Hey all,

Having issues with my multiseat MP1.6 setup. I just built a new server with win8.1 this weekend, using a ceton pci 6tuner. Problem I'm having is that the tv service is randomly crashing, usually (it seems) when I'm not actively streaming. It can be working and then I cease all streams. My power options in windows are set for always on except the monitor, there is no monitor connected as I just VNC in. Firewall is disabled. When one of my clients tries to connect back up I will get the message that either the server is down or messages about firewall. When I go look at the server PC the TV service is not running, I load up the tv server configuration and it will give me the message that the TV service is not running and give me the option to enable it.

I checked the logs and I can't seem to see when it goes down or a definitive error message in the logs. I had the issue happen immediately when I stopped a stream at about 7:16pm this evening, and again at about 8:48-ish pm. I deleted logs prior to today. I thought about manually changing the service in win8.1 to autorestart, but that won't help if it crashes while I'm recording something.

Any suggestions?

    Hello and welcome kashaku :)

    Any suggestions?
    Yep, a couple. :)

This crashing problem is a known issue. Crashes may occur when a tuner is stopped.

The first thing you should do won't make the problem go away, but it will at least [drastically] reduce the occurrences: disable the DVB EPG grabber (untick the two "... enabled" checkboxes).
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...figuration/TV-Server_Configuration/05_DVB_EPG

The DVB EPG grabber won't help you get EPG, so there is no reason not to do this. The grabber is actually making the crashes occur more frequently because it is constantly starting and stopping your tuners behind the scenes => more crashes, even while you're not directly using the tuners.

The second thing you should make the problem go away completely: install the updated IPTV source filter.

You'll have to take this one on trust a bit. If you're interested you can follow the discussion here learn why that filter is better:

There's a great summary on the last page:

I think this has helped with the initial issue, but now I'm having new problems. I'm getting the freezing when playing live TV ....it almost seems as if once my timeshift file hits the configured filesize the tv stream freezes.

So I guess my question is, do I need to apply the fix posted above on each of my computers or just the server?
