Problems after Videocard downgrade to Ati 4650 (1 Viewer)

A few days ago my damaged 8800GT Videocard got replaced by a ATI 4650, i wiped the old Nvidia driver correctly and installed the latest Catalyst 8.12 on my system.

Now i have terrible lags when i want to play a MKV x264 videofile, even in 720p i get those long lags every 10 seconds.

Further i cannot select Haali in the postprocessing videoconfiguration, if i do so and want to play a File, Mediaportal shuts down immediately

Other files like Xvid and Mpeg even with work even with hardcore scaling in ffd show, i´m using Core AVC for x/h 264 and the ffd show h264 codec is disabled.


I hope that i can resolve my probs with a little tweak and not by reinstalling windows.

This probably isnt waht you want to hear - but Windows doesnt really like it when you swap Graphic cards from one manufacturer to another (i.e. nvidia --> ati).

How did you uninstall the old drivers? with the add/remove or with a driver cleaner?

You probably want to use a driver cleaner to get every last bit out! something like - Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com

Yes i used the Guru driver sweeper...

Ok then to avoid furhter stress i´ll make everything new

Before i do that, can you reconmend a special catalyst driver which causes less problems ?

I'm currently with 8.10 that gives me no problem.
