And again: Please try this MediaPortal.exe with latest SVN and tell me if it works and/or if you experience funny things that shouldn't happen.

The new mediaportal.exe still starts MP without any problems (with the remote enabled). But HcwHelper still produces an error when I close MP.

That's great news. I'll put it into SVN now.

I'll see what I can do about the crash later. But I think the most important thing is fixed now. Finally...

When you're back home and you can fully test it, please do the following:

- Use latest SVN (Rev9920)
- Play around with MP, if the remote and all works
- Exit MP
- Delete all files in /MediaPortal/log
- Start MP
- Close MP, see if the crash comes up.
- If so, post all logs to http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com
- If not, be happy ;)

After that post the link here (or to me on IRC), please.

Very verry good.

It is working directly using the svn 9920, no need for changing mediaportal.exe or remoteplugin.dll. Everythings seems OK.

It still produces the hcwhelper crash during shutdown, but there is not produced any errorlog - so I can't send you anything.

I don't know if you are interested in the informations that are gathered, ready to be send to Microsoft - at the error report??

Thank you very much for you work
Steen

PS: Did you find out what the problem was?

If you enabled extended logging in config for the remote (which you should have done, I forgot to tell you), there might be some information in MediaPortal.log.

No, I don't know what was causing this. It still doesn't really make sense. I moved the initial remote inits to a place quite near (codeflow-wise) to where we moved it away from to solve some hibernate/standby issues. I still need to know from rtv (he was suffering from that hibernate problem) if the old problem didn't come back now. But I'm quite confident that this didn't happen.

So please enable extended logging and do what I described above. After you cleaned the log directory and started/closed MP, post whatever log you find in there. I need all information I can get, whether it seems related or not.

P.S. The remote worked? You didn't mention that in your last post...

Yes the remote is working.

I'm afraid that kids and wife is using the TV now, so I can't use the computer with the TV-card in, but I can send you the information from my other computer, that have the same behavior.

[21:22] <sbp> Hi mPod, the forum is down, sp I just wanted to tahnk you for your work. Everything is working fine on both my danish XP computers with the newest svn
This means? No crash anymore? I guess you wanna say that the remote works, but the crash on exit is still there?

If so, another addition to the above steps... between opening & closing MP, please press ONE remote button.
