Hi

Have Mediaportal running great now, except one huge irritating problem.
When playing videos in x264, I only get a black screen. I have FFDShow installed, but it's not available for video codec selection in "movie player". I also tried K-lite codec pack without result.

Anybody has a clue to whats going on?

Latest Mediaportal version with latest snapshot.

    ---Sorry --- [1. DL latest SVN(you do have 0.2.3-RC1?)]
    2. Use K-lite (works for me)
    3. MP Setup -> Videos -> Movie player -> H.264 video decoder: CoreAVC VD

    Hello psyko-lefse,

Are you using the latest SVN FFdShow ?
Make sure that you select "Do not limit" during installation of ffdshow for video AND audio to ensure that the codec is used within MediaPortal. Also make sure to klick on "decode the following video formats with ffdshow" AND "decode the following audio formats with ffdshow".

    Thanks for the repliy Level20.
Installed FFDshow like you said, and that fixed one problem. It was now possible to select FFDshow as a codec in mediaplayer.

But when playing videoes in H264, the screen goes black, and Mediaportal "encounters an error and ned to be closed".

    Any idea?

Log files attached, followed the steps in the mediaportal test tool.
Btw, this is with the CoreAVC-codec, not FFDshow. Both have the same problems.

    Did you try:
    a) Another HD-movie?
    b) Another (DS) player (MPC, WMP) - (NOT VLC)

I have never tried anythin wrapped in .mkv (matroska) myself.

    (like your movie D:\Filmer\Drama\Rocky balboa\Rocky.Balboa.2006.DVDRip.x264-HEiT.mkv)

EDIT: Try using GSpot on the file (found under Start -> K-lite -> Tools)

I think your onto something about .mkv.
WMP can't play it either r and Gspot get's zero information out of it.
To bad alot of my movies are .mkv-files :(

Maybe you have too many codecs installed. They like to mess around with each other. Sometimes the only solution is to do a clean installation of windows in order to install ONE codec. I can play .mkv files with only ffdshow installed so this basically is possible.
