Problems when recording to MPG (2 Viewers)

Hi Yes I'm also experiencing No Audio on Channel Seven SD recordings in Sydney. I can record SBS fine & Seven HD is fine. Seven used to be fine for recording to mpg but there are 2 factors that changed recently Seven did a change that informed me on my STB that I might need to retune ( wasn't required on either STB or HTPC) and at about the same time I installed MP 2.3 final and the TV server from arround the release date. It was fine under 2.3 RC3 and live playback is fine but I also get no audio for channel seven in SD it's fine on the HD channel. Is this a bug MP 2.3 playback as live TV is fine and the codes for playback are dictated in MP in the TV section? I've Tried using NVidia + AC3Filter & NVidia Vid + Nvidia Audio and still no audio.

I also think Seven is the only Sydney/Australian broadcaster that broadcastes in AC3. I might well be wrong now but a year or so ago that was the case.

I am also having problems recording to .mpg where .ts is fine on all channels. I have gone through all Digital TV channels here in Australia and recorded a short section of TV (from within the Live TV screens). From there I used VideoRedo to check if there was audio (it was missing on one channel) or if I could open the .mpg file (it wouldn't open on some).

Are there any other Aussies (in Sydney) that are having the same problem for each of the same channels ? I'm using the SVN from today, 8th Jan.

The main TV channels in Australia (Sydney) are :

ABC, ABC2, ABC HD, 7, 7 HD, 9, 9HD, TEN, TEN HD, TEN HD1, SBS, SBS NEWS, SBS HD

I found that ABC HD, SBS and SBS NEWS didn't record a valid .mpg file and VideoRedo could not open it at all and Channel 7 didn't have any audio when checking through "Show Video Program Info" in VideoRedo.

My main reason for wanting to record in .mpg is that the Fast Forward & Rewind functions work really well on a .mpg file. On .ts format files the Fast Forward/Rewind does not show the snapshots of the picture as it's progressing so it is difficult to know where you are up in the file and have to keep stopping to check.

Let's hope someone takes notice and looks into these issues... I wish I could but unfortunately I don't have the skill set to do so...

OK just found what Seven changed in December 2007 not sure if this would have anything to do with lost Audio but doesn't look likely if it's brining it in line with the others?

Seven Network: Changes to 7Digital TV transmissions
By Seven Network The Seven Network is changing some of the technical parameters affecting Seven's digital TV transmissions around Australia.

These changes will be to the DVB "code rate" from 2/3 to 3/4 and in the case of Brisbane, also the GI from 1/8 to 1/16 resulting in similar transmission parameters to the other Free-to-air digital TV broadcasts.

It's expected that the change will not be noticed by most viewers.

Unfortunately though there are some digital receivers/set-top-boxes that don't comply with the Australian Standard for digital TV receivers (AS 4933) and these may need to be rescanned.
