I tried both the .1 and .2 (preview 3) and i seem to have a strange problem:
I use the (awesome btw) plugin to read from winlirc.
In the config I configured winlirc with the "start server" option. (and the correct path)
When I boot it starts inputservice.exe and winlirc.exe (winlirc without the tray-icon),
but when pressing keys in mediaportal it does not work.
Only by killing the winlirc.exe , starting it manual (with tray-icon) AND opening config and save (basicaly restarting inputservice.exe) i can get it up and working. (restarting inputservice.exe without restarting winlirc.exe does not work)

Any idea's why it does this?

another thing i cannot get to work is shutting down with the "translator". Starting mediaportal works ok (and shutting down with a key configured in mediaportal too)
I attached the logs fyi

PS i surely love this plugin, before i used coolreceiver plugin, but this, with winlirc in it, is GREAT!!:D

I'll reinstall a copy of WinLirc here and see what I'm doing wrong ...

From looking at the Translator log it appears that the shutdown request is being denied ... which means that some running program has refused it... I might look at adding a new command "Shutdown (Force)" to get around this situation, but you should also check what other software is running that might be causing it...

Also, would support for the CoolCommand remote in IR Server Suite help?

    Cheers,

Yesterday evening I tried "preview 3", this is the result:
I installed preview 3 (Input service, Mp control plugin, TV3 Blaster Plugin, Tray lancher, IR Blast), I configured Input service, then I configured TV3 Blaster launching configuration TV Server.
Restarted the computer and I launched Mediaportal. Result: the MCE remote worked only a few buttons for example the wrong buttons "i" and the arrow " Back ", worken number button, play, etc.., and not change channel in STB.
If launch "Input service configuration" and click on "Detect" then launch Mediaportal works well the remote control and change channel STB.
If reboot your computer and launch mediaportal without first running input service configuration "and click on "Detect ", the remote control worked only few buttons and STB not changed channel.

The problem with winlirc was, well stupid,... the config file needs to have an extention .cf or it will not load when starting it from the serive
When i added it, ran config in winlirc and rebooted, everything worked perfect. Sorry for your trouble

Only the shutdown with "translator" won't work.
There are no special things running on the pc (screenshot from taskmanager in attachement)

For me, the addition of coolcommand remote would not be so great since i think it is really ugly (mine) and i only have the reduced version (from the tv tunder card tv 2000). Thats why i moved to winlirc and a more button remote. But for other people it would maybe be helpfull ! Your program can do so much more!

    Alberto:

Can you post some log files for me? For IR Server Suite and for MediaPortal?

    promy:

Is there anything I can do to make WinLirc support better?

The problem with Translator not shutting windows down would be easily fixed by a small adjustment to some code, so I'll include that in the next version.

    Thanks,

The winlirc support is (for me) perfect like it is! :D I could not think of something missing of "bugged".
I'm looking forward to the updated version, but for now, i'll just shut down from within mediaportal.

Just wondering... but since you are quite handy with these things... if something like mceguru this would be possible with mediaportal, it would be sooo  if i could "re-use" my old pocketpc to control MP by BT of Wifi

    And-81,

You looked at my files log ?

You have a solution to my problem ?

If before starting mediaportal launch "IR Server Config", select "MCE Remote", click on "Detect" and "OK", then launch mediaportal everything works well.

    Alberto:

Everything looks fine in the logs ... I don't know what to say ... I'll have a new test version out in a few hours hopefully, so maybe try that and let me know what happens.

    Cheers,
