Hi all,
I write to submit a problem I am experiencing with the Powerscheduler plugin. I know that there are also other people having it. It is a problem I discovered when using the external display plugin. In detail I report here what I posted in the display driver thread (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showpost.php?p=184653&postcount=198): if I power off or hibernate the system from Mediaportal's home screen (the X button in the upper right corner) the display powers off correctly. On the contrary if hibernation is performed from the Powerscheduler plugin (I activated a time of idle after which the system goes in hibernation) the display freezes and continues to display the last thing it was showing at the moment of the hibernation even if the computer is off. When the computer powers up, the display continues to be freezed. I have to close Mediaportal and start it again to reactivate the display. I think that the good behaviour when closing from the X button is due to the fact that I have MCE standby tool that, when going in hibernation, closes Mediaportal and starts it again at the resume.
One of the authors of the driver had a look at my logs and told me that: "Your log shows that mediaportal does not receive a hibernate message when your system goes into hibernate mode. Then, when your system resumes from hibernate, it receives a wakeup message. You will notice several messages about the system receiving a wakeup request when the system is not hibernating" He also noticed that (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showpost.php?p=200926&postcount=373) "When the system hibernates (initiated by the operating system), a "hibernate" message is sent to all running processes, giving then the opertunity to suspend (or terminate) gracefully. When the system is resumed, the operating system sends a "resume" message to the running processes, allowing them to resume.The ExternalDisplay plugin monitors these messages and handles the shutdown of the display driver but PowerScheduler either does not generate these messages, or supresses them. So as far as the driver is concerned nothing is happening and the resources that it is using suddenly become unavailable without any warning"
This causes an incorrect display management but still lets the system go in hibernation. Anyway there is still a problem: if the system is idle, it goes into hibernation correctly; if I power it on (or it powers on automatically because of a scheduled recording) everything is OK and, after the recording, it goes into hibernation again. This happens for two times, from the third the system hangs during the power up: after the bios the screen turns black and the system hangs with HDD led constantly lighted up. I have to make a hardware reset. At this point Windows tells me that the previous boot attempt was not good and asks if I want to try again or to delete the hibernation image and start from scratch. Obviuosly I have to delete the image to be able to boot.
