Long story short. I am in the middle of developing a full configured media portal which we can use as part of our solution for selling Home Multimedia systems with additional hardware and additional Software for server functions and complete automation of home networks. . ( Dont worry, we have made it perfectly clear that media portal is opensource and free to download and install ) What we are offering is a pre-configured and feature rich home digital networking "solution" which spans past mediaportal alone
My Question / Concern is that once we offer such solutions, there is nothing to stop a would be chancer from using "backup Settings" for media portal and then selling a solution based on our time and effort.
What i am looking for is a method of protecting the configuration files that we have spent Sooooooo many hours trying to perfect. Any Advice would be welcome
The proper solution would be password protection for access to the mediaportal config and backup settings plugin - but i doubt MP team would implement such a thing
We have a few deployment issues to work out along the way ( Due to PC, and builds being ultimately different for each user, but if media portal team allow it, we will be happy to provide the MediaPortal config for any mediaportal enthusiasts who don't have the know-how to configure one themselves. After all it is an open source community.
