Question about functionality of IRSS (1 Viewer)

I've built a media PC. It's always been meant as a DVR rather than a home theatre setup. I want to be able to record DVB-T and the analogue output (also the only output) from my pay tv decoder (Austar). I think I actually have things working as they intend. I finally worked out how to learn IR codes today. (Yes, I know it's probably been there forever, but I never saw it before today.)

I've also managed to create the pay TV channels in Media Portal. I just have one question. (There's always one, isn't there?)

Should IRSS transmit the channel number of the pay tv channels as I channel surf using Media Portal?

This may also be clearly written somewhere, but I've been trying to absorb so much information, I'm probably just not seeing it.

Assuming you have a remote and blaster combination then the numbers are sent to the STB via IRSS from the remote, I had been using this method to watch Selectv until recently. I admit that it was the IR blaster hardware that I found I needed first. If you have that and learned the digits for the STB then yes they are sent via the blaster as you change channels on MP.

You also need to assign the actual STB channel numbers for each channel in the TV server for the analogue input.
