question: how can I increase timeshift time? (1 Viewer)

I have a question I cannot find in the manual.

I want to increase my timeshift time.
For that I guess I have to be in TV Server Configuration - General Settings - Timeshifting tab.
But then it says:

- Minimum files: 6
- Maximum files: 24
- Filesize MByte/file: 256

I have no idea what minimum and maximum files means and the manual doesn't help either (it just says you can set minimum and maximum files here...but I can see that, that's obvious)

Can anyone tell me what this means and how I can increase my timeshift buffer to 1,5 hours? Does this also include the pausing time?

TV-Server uses the timeshift files to store the stream data. First file is written until max-size is reached and then 2nd file is created. When al available files have been used, 1st one is dumped to create next one. Number of files multiplied by filesize, defines the storage area for timeshifting. The available time depends on the stream details.
Increase your filesize from 256 to 512 and you double your available timeshifting time. Etc...

I understand the implications of increasing the filesize.
But what do minimum and maximum files mean?
What happens when you set minimum to 1 and max to 200 for instance?
I can imagine max means the maximum number of timeshift files before starting again with the first one. But I have no clue what the minimum number stands for...

Even with a minimum of 5, files will be created one at a time. Meaning there can be less files than the minimum.

Minimum is the spot when TVE3 starts to recycle the buffer files, if there is no one locking the files (maybe paused state causes this, sorry not sure ). Max is the limit that TVE3 is allowed to go if the file locking happens.

Thanks for the explanation, now I at least understand what the settings do.

However, which are the advantages/disadvantages of using, say, one (or perhaps minimum one maximum two) 10GB file rather than ten (20) 1GB files?

expanding the last post...

Why cant file size be over 1024mb ?? I can imagine that has something to do with disk structure, or something like that.

But it is viable to make files bigger ? I believe there is a bug related to long pauses, then making timeshift file bigger would avoid this sometimes.
