Not sure if this has been repeated before,
I have 2 servers feeding files to my HTPC, by default the HTPC opens a local movie directory, if I click the up arrow to where the rest of shares are the whole system will hang resulting in a reboot, this only happens when the servers are off, is there anyway of media portal detecting the presence or not of a share quickly ao one can move on or is there another workaround? No other buttons seem to undo this selection.
also is there also another way of forcing icon mode for listed movie directories, all images are ok and the directory is setup to default to icon mode but when selected the default view is always list.

thanks

I've seen this as well, except IIRC I had a .ISO residing on the "server" (actually the HTPC, but anyway...) mounted in DaemonTools on the dev box - running MP on the dev box, but with the "server" off line, hung the system.

If you remove the tick for default in MP setup then you will have no default drive. In this case when you go to MyVideos then MP will only show the drives you sopecified if they are available.

Should work for you as I have a similar setup and no issues this way.

    thanks for the reply's,
I originally had it setup as described, the my videos would hang for 30secs before showing the drive list when there were any drives offline, i changed it to have a default local directory of movies (for the kids) on the HTPC so they do not need to worry about why its not working etc (impatient little things they can be...take after their father LOL).

has anyone any advise why the default vies do not stay as Icon once selected in setup?

    Video Default View

does anyone have problems with the default View function for movie folders?
I have DVD's copied to a local HDD on the HTPC, I have the movies setup as the default folder to open when entering My Videos, I have default view setup as "Big Icons", when I go into my videos the default view is list, if I change it to "Icons" the views is still list, what does the default view selection here do?
