    Hello

I am in the UK and have a radio channel that sounds like the transmission is speeded up (like 'Pinky and Perky' or 'Speedy Gonzales').

Is there something I am missing?

BTW, this channel happens to be a DAB radio channel.

    Hello Tony

The issue is probably related to a sample rate mismatch, but...

BTW, this channel happens to be a DAB radio channel.
MediaPortal doesn't currently support receiving DAB radio, so I don't know how that is possible.

Please post log files showing the problem if you would like assistance.

    Regards,
    mm

    Hi mm

It's only happening on one of my three clients - the channel plays fine on two of them. I'll get you a log tomorrow.

    Thanks for the help.

    Thanks Tony (y)

    First, I need to say:
[2015-07-09 05:39:32,859] [Error ] [TvClient-TvHome: HeartBeat transmitter thread] [ERROR] - TvPlugin and TvServer don't have the same version.
    TvServer Version: 1.11.0.0
    TvPlugin Version: 1.12.0.0

We always strongly recommend you use matched versions of MediaPortal and TV Server. If you choose to ignore that recommendation that's fine... but it's at your own risk, and we don't commit to provide support for you when problems like this crop up. Such a configuration may work fine, or not at all... or there may be hard-to-diagnose issues.

The only additional advice I can offer at this stage is to configure your TV codec preferences:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...nfiguration/9_Codecs_and_Renderer/1_TV_Codecs

I can see you have the highly regarded LAV codecs installed, so when you load that section of configuration MediaPortal should show them as selected.
...but don't be fooled: that does not mean that those preferences were previously saved. They're just defaults. The logs show MediaPortal is currently using "MPEG Audio Decoder":
[2015-07-09 05:39:43,298] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Check graph connections for: Default DirectSound Device
[2015-07-09 05:39:43,300] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Check graph connections for: MPEG Audio Decoder
[2015-07-09 05:39:43,302] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Check graph connections for: TsReader

I have no idea where that particular codec comes from, but I'd be very surprised if the problem isn't something to do with that.

    Regards,
    mm

    Thanks mm

I'll dp some investigating and let you know what I find.

    Thanks again.

    Tony[DOUBLEPOST=1436443144][/DOUBLEPOST]Hi mm

The version difference is because I upgraded the client machines to 1.12 yesterday but couldn't upgrade the server until this morning, after I had logged the test. The problem existed before that change. I'll back to you when I work out what is happening with the codecs.

I am using SQL Server 2012 as the server database and notice that the programme descriptions, that are in the accompanying .XMLs, are also in the database. Is is possible to configure MP to retrieve the descriptions from the database rather than the XMLs, then not produce the XMLs when recording programmes?

BTW, I have now fully moved over to MP and am very impressed, though there are some issues I'd like to resolve that may be available in extensions that I just haven't understood yet.

    Thanks again.

    Tony

    Hi mm

The client machine is a Latitude E7250 an I am using the SONY audio driver. I changed the Audio renderer to 'Default Direct Sound Device' and the radio audio was fixed. I could have sworn I had tried that earlier without luck, but it's working now.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello again Tony

MP does already retrieve the descriptions from the database.
The XML files are created to enable MP to reimport the recordings if you should ever need to move them. There is no way to prevent MP from creating them, but you can delete them if it really bothers you.

I changed the Audio renderer to 'Default Direct Sound Device' and the radio audio was fixed. I could have sworn I had tried that earlier without luck, but it's working now.
You were already using default DirectSound as shown in the log excerpt I posted previously. Like I tried to explain, visiting that TV codecs section of configuration would have been enough to set your [previously unset] codec preferences to the LAV defaults. In other words: I'd bet the change in audio codec from "MPEG Audio Decoder" to LAV is what solved this problem.

    Regards,
    mm
