    Hi,

It would probably help to know what you consider to be a slow channel change, whether the problem is new with this SVN, and to have logfiles from your system. Otherwise the developers will not know whether there is a bug which needs to be fixed.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

You are cool -- but not perfect - Sorry

    Hi 2 all,

first of all - GOOD WORK MP Team,
but can you imagine the fact, that I or other people are using MP as the only system to watch TV or Video?

I am using RC1, but I am an Expert to PC configuration. Codec, drivers and anything else.
It takes a lot of time to configure MP to work properly on ANY PC.

You are selling MP with serveral system (f.e. ichbinleise.de - Office PC | Media PC | Game PC | lüfterloser PC | Notebook)

There has to be a really stable version or some kind of quality management while developing.
I am sick of reconfiguring my systeme each time I get a new release.

Plesease consider thinking of the follwowing while releasing new buids:
    1) not everyone is a PC expert
    2) 1 klick installation required including codecs ( AC3, CoreAVS, DScaler, and all other stuff)
    3) Best-practice forum!!! (Hardware, Drivers, etc.)

FUCK - I really like MP and already wrote my own plug-in's BUT it has to be more stable.
I watch everything using MP ( HD Movies, TV, HD TV -Premiere etc, Fotos, Radio, and so on)
Possibilities are perfect, but everytime I want to use something new, I have to read the forum or something.

Why you always need logs? A better feedback from the GUI would be better.
Just tell the user what is wrong! Then the user can place his question here with a perfect description what the problem is.

Vista users are fucked up twice, because they will not find the logs!
Don't understand me wrong - MP is still the best solution for HTPC (I think)
but it's getting more and more complicated. I want to come home - start my PC (DELL XPS 420)
and watch the fucking TV. I used MP 2.3 for over 1 year and my wife wa sabele to do everything with it,
now with RC1 TV Server and everything MP is not the programm that someone can handle when not
having knowlege of the errors that may occur.

@the end: BETTER ERROR HANDLING - BETTER SOLUTIONS! - BETTER RELEASES
Sorry dudes but that is the way it is. Still after all - MP rockz!

    /QUOTE]

You are mistaken there. It's not Mediaportal selling MediaPortal. It's some company trying to make a few bugs by preinstalling Mediaportal on their media PCs. Which they are allowed to do. But they do not bring in any cash to MP team or it's development. (unless they donate...I doubt it though...)

    Mediaportal is free....

With RC1 they are working towards a finished product which in theory should make things easier for you.

If I read between the lines...I think what you're trying to say is that you failed in your task to get things working properly and your wife is giving you a hard time about it. And now you're blaming MP. Be a man and tell her to put a sock in it :p

Somebody wants to censor azimeks post...

Not really, this shows how someone pays back for free software to a "free software community", which spends their own money on software/hardware & their free time to develop, test, report bugs, help out on forum, write documentation, write patches & to drive the complete site & all this just so MediaPortal can become a better application & not to forget free ;)

To bad that they don't understand what a open source project it's all about, but heads up all & back to testing :)

    Regards
    Roy

    It's just too bad.

You hear all the success stories. People who get the right combination of hardware and software the right interfaces and control drivers... they will rave about how superior MP is over other products they have used. These people are very lucky indeed, and rare. But I'm sure it is the intention of the developers and the motivation of testers, to ultimately see it all come together for the majority of users. In a perfect world MP would be a turn-key system... and any hardware choice would be the correct one, trouble free and user friendly and idiot proof.

I think we ask too much too soon. There is an incredible amount of variation in hardware and drivers, each manufacturer is banking on being the ex facto standard for all other manufacturers to follow... and no one is creating a standard that all are satisfied with... it's what drives creativity and innovation. And there is also an incredible amount of individuality and personality expressed in each HTPC build. I think, even now, MP is the most forgiving of all the applications out there as well as the most adaptable... and it will get even better.

As had been stated earlier. Media Portal is OPEN SOURCE and FREE. It is not just the child of two or three, or even a dozen developers, but is the offspring of each and every person who installs the application, and comments on its behavior and quirks... helping it to grow and mature. MP is no more than the sum of all those who participate in its development. and will be no less than the imagination of the same.

I think it is inappropriate for one to condemn MP with such colorful expression, when it is encouraged for all to be active participants in steering it's development toward being the ultimate media software available.

    just my 2 pesos....

    Chuck
