Hi All,

I didn't get any answers in the general support area, and realized I probably posted to the wrong subforum.

Basically, what I don't understand, is how to get MP to acknowledge/use the haali configurations? I watch a bunch of stuff that have multiple audio and subtitle options, my haali settings are for language, sub preferences:

eng,off;*,eng

If I double click on a video file, it works flawlessly in WMP11 (files with english audio, play english, no subs. Files with no english audio, plays the default audio with english subtitles).

Media portal doesn't seem to allow haali to do its job, I tried setting a post filtering for haali, but that just causes MP to crash. Any tips would be most appreciated!!

Title has been adjusted as this problem occurs on both RC2 and RC4

This sounds like the same problem I had with MP and Haali. Get the Radlight filter manager. It will allow you to set the merit of the Haali splitter to Preferred or Preferred+1.

IIRC you need Haali set "Autoload VSFilter = yes". I'm not sure this goes for newer RC's.... which you should give a try, as I don't think devs are interesting in bughunting old RC's.

I should note, I did upgrade to RC4 on my test machine, and I'm experiencing the same problem. Gonna get radlight and try it out.

Ok, I tried radlight and it didn't seem to solve my problem. What it almost appears is that MP is ignoring haali and selecting the default audio track.

    Example:

    I mkv file with:
    video
    Audio track 1: jap 2.0
    Audio track 2: eng 2.0
Audio track 3: jap directors comments
5 subtitle tracks of various configurations - all english

If I open the file in WMP11 - beautiful - haali shows english selected, no subtitles (english the second audio track)

If I open the file in MP RC4 (or RC2 for that matter) in windowed mode so I can check haali, haali shows the first audio track selected (japanese), no subtitles.

For whatever reason MP is forcing its selection onto haali. I've promoted haali as far as it can go with radlight.

I'm sure it's gotta be a configuration somewhere that will adjust this...

Same problem but I also have another problem: mediaportal minimizes itself whenever I play any video file..

Edit: I've switched to using an external player and I'm now satisfied with mportals awesomeness.

I was considering using an external player, but that kind of defeats the use of the remote control while playing videos as it seems that mediaplayer won't respond to commands from the remote (like FF or skip ahead) - which is something I really like having otherwise it's just like streaming to my ps3, and I really hate having to watch opening and ending credits ;)

I also have problems with haali and MP.
For example, I have downloaded a documentary from NGC HD in x264.mkv.
All players I have play the file...except MediaPortal!
Somehow MediaPortal forces the wrong settings onto the process

I've been lucky that everything I have plays, but similar to you - forces the wrong settings so I don't get exactly what I anticipate =(

I used MKV extract to pull out the video file and audio track that I wanted. I then used MKV merge to multiplex the two files together again. You need to specify the fps (24 for film, 30 for interlace). Hope this helps.

    Hi Joe,

I appreciate the suggestion, but to be honest, I have just too many files to do that with, some of the series I have are 70 episodes long, and doing it for each file really would take too long =(
