RC2 or EPG issue?? I need some help (1 Viewer)

Hey guys...

I am new here (hi, I'm Tim) and also new to this whole PVR business....

here's my issue....

I have been trying to get media portal to work with my epg for a little while, and while goofing around with it, i noticed that I had a significant lag with changing channels (with 0.2 rc1)....

So.... today, i installed RC2, and managed to get the epn going. So, now when I start Media Portal, I get the main screen, then it hangs. it seems things are happening in the background, cause if i hit my 'live tv' button on my remote, i can actually hear the tv.

So, i tried backtracking a bit, and uninstalled rc2, and went back to rc1 (or tried to anyways).... and still no luck.

Here is my log file, I don't really know what i am looking for, but if someone could maybe shed some light on my issue, that would be very helpful!

It looks like MP is getting stuck trying to update your database to the latest version.

Try deleting the TVdatabase file in the database folder, and restarting MP. It should automatically create one for you and import your xmltv file.

Also, if you still get stuck, post using the support template and we may be able to help more. It's found in a sticky in the support forum.

There's always an extra tweak somewhere to get better performance from a PVR ;-)

Well, that helped somewhat.... but it still does it intermittently.

Can we stick to the original problem first? Have you got your TV working fine now?

The delays you're having with MP may be due to the fact that you're using the BlueTwo Metal Dark skin but you don't have the sounds for it. Try copying over the sounds folder from the BlueTwo folder to the BlueTwo Metal Dark folder.

Ok, here's what happened, (and what I did)

I couldn't seem to get it going, and was using gbpvr, and wasn't happy with it, and knew that media portal would be waaaay more along the lines of what I was looking for... i had to upgrade a hdd, so i just did a clean install of everything, got the xmltv going before setup the media portal stuff, and it worked like a charm.

I installed RC1 first, and had no issues, except with changing channels. So, i figured I would bite the bullet, and attempt RC2 again.

Perfectioin... and i must say, i was SOOOO relieved to find that the channel changing was GREATLY improved! (thank you guys sOOOO much for your hard work, and GREAT improvements!)

I did have some issues that were ironed out by just going thru some codecs and settings and such.

Thanks you everyone for helping me get thru my issues, and helping to steer me in the right direction!
