    Hi,
Yes, just move them to another folder so they don't load in MP, try around 15 recordings first if you can.
It could be one off them that has an error or it could be the thumb nail creation in MP “or Windowsâ€, but since you don’t have the problem in RC2 it seems like MP problem.

BlueTwo is the reference skin to use, always updated & screen to 800x600 is a good start when testing & problem solving. That’s why ;-)

    Regards

Okay, I just tried renaming my entire TV folder, and then I only had 15 recordings in another folder.

    I used Bluetwo in 800x600 BTW :)

The problem is still there. However, memory drop after playback is much lower this time, which is easily explained by the lower amount f files.

So it seems that MP allocates some memory for each recording. What it does to these recordings I don't know, but it does not release the memory again.

BTW: Just tried to play dvr-ms files with mediaplayer 10, and it crashes each time. Any idea how to fix this?

Does WMP crash with each DVR-MS file or only a few?
If it's a few, then maybe they are corrupt (ie, MP had issues trying to create them) or if it is all, then there may be a codec issue on your PC.

As you say, the high memory usage could be the thumbnail creation. My PC used to grind to a halt when I opened Windows Explorer and there were more than 20 or so large movie files in the folder. There's a registry hack to fix this, but I am away from home and can't remember what it was.

    Hi

You are right, it is related to DVR-MS playback failing!

All DVR-MS files crashed WMP10 when trynig ot play them. So now I have uninstalled my codec pack and installed another, and guess what - it working now!

Thanks for leading me in the right direction!!!

For others with the same problem, I'm now using XP Codec Pack:

Glad to hear it all worked out well then :)

Just a tip for next time though, generally Codec packs are not a good idea. It's better to install the codecs you need manually. There are a few sticky threads in the Tips and Tricks forum that explain the best way to do this.

Again, welcome back to the world of a fully functioning MP :)
