Hi Again Paranoid Delusion,

Your suggestion of using MPStandbyHandler has solved my problem - many thanks - what a relief - I have spent ages trying to sort this one out ... along with a number of others by the sound of it.

I will ensure I add a special post in the MPStandbyHandler forum and thank the designer.

I have a number of other niggly little things you may be able to help with and would really appreciate your help - you seem very knowledgeable. Am I able to write notes to you directly within this site? I have not really had a good look, but notice you can add friends.

Not advisable, the reason is we want as many people to read users problems, and they may be able to help, far better than i can

Try and keep one question per request for help, as people get easily bored with long posts, and also your more likely to get the answer your looking for

Guess i will reinstall my Vista again..

This time trying to get the Sleep and Wakeup to work before installing anyting else..

The installing TV Server and mediaportal
Checking if i can get anny manual Sleep to work from MediaPortal
Without installing the StandbyTool

I anybody has a nice step by step guide let me know..
I'm quiet lacy since it's the 4 or 5 time i reinstall the Machine... And it's still not working

With a basic VistaSP1 install, before putting any other software on pc, see if it will suspend\resume, even if its via a keyboard\mouse to resume.

If it will not do this basic function, you have a problem that needs to sorted out prior to complicating things by adding "extra's"

You would not believe it, I'm having issues again getting the machine to record after waking up from sleep with MPStandbyHandler running.

Is there any advice you can give on settings first of all - in Powerscheduler and MPStandbyHandler. I have followed what you have suggested in the MPStandbyHandler forum.

I was thinking of dropping a log file from the Watchdog, but I think with MPStandyHandler working, this gets shutdown each time - correct? Would the log file from MPStandbyHandler provide enough information?

Confused about why this would start happening when I have changed nothing after getting it to work previously?

Any help appreciated.

Just reinstalled my Vista this weekend.. Again

And tried my luck with RC4

Sleep worked fine from Vista.. (Note to myself remember to delete patition before reinstalling vista.. Otherwise i get Windows.old)

Installed RC 4 - Had some small issues with chanels to be shown in EPG and not.
It was possible to get the machine to sleep from the Client menue.

Tried to select a recording, and for to sleep.
Machine woke-up - And recorded (Have to check what it actualy recorded)

Only thing i have to check is why it did not wake up this morning to grap a new EPG / Download the new XMLTv file

Take it you are using powerscheduler for that, if it does not work, try setting a scheduled event in windows to run grabber instead .

You are right i tried using PowerScheduler to do it (The download) But with no luck.
Unfortunatly i'm not grabbing a file, i'm just downloading the file from a server.

But if you have sugestions on how to download a file. And import it.
Please let me know...
because writing a small application for that task might be a bit overkill..

Until i moved my new HTPC to my livingroom it worked..
(The screen resulution is wrong for that monitopr, and havent figured out how to force vista into a working one..)
So i have to move it to the monitor again..

I'm using a GNU util called Wget to retrive the XMLTV file from the server...
And the scheduled task for that is running my own small .net app.
Just so i can wait some time for the network connection and the import of the file...
