I am not sure why but with the RC4 installation, the installer wiped out all my settings and art files, for both MediaPortal and all my plug-ins. In other words it wiped out my database and thumbs folders. I am hoping this is a bug in the installer and not by design. It's nice that the databases are backed up but only advanced users are even going to know to look for the backed up files. For everyone else, the installer just wipes everything out and as far as I am concerned this is pretty piss poor usability. It's frustrating even for me and all I had to do was copy over my backed up files.
So I would suggest you guys do not wipe out all the settings. And if you feel that this is required for the correct operation of an "upgraded" version of MediaPortal, fine, but at least do not wipe out databases and artwork for plug-ins. As the lead developer for the Moving Pictures plug-in, I find it very frustrating that you are deleting my users' configuration files. This is invasive and quite honestly, just not acceptable. I really don't want to have to start storing the Moving Pictures Database in a separate folder just to prevent it from getting nuked by the MediaPortal installer...
So is this by design? A bug?
