I still have no video with a new fresh install of MP RC4. When I play a video (all the formats, from the Xvid, to DVD, or a H.264) I always have no video, but audio only, and when i pause the video the image appears. Also thumbanils are correctly shown.
The other codecs and tools I installed are: Cyberlink Powerdvd8, ffdshow, coreavc, haali mediasplitter.

    Attached is the log file.

Any help will be very appreciated. Thank you.

EDIT: I'm sorry I posted on the wrong room, please move this topic in the MP General Support.

In MP config (expert mode enabled) directshow filters, video renderer should be set at EVR, now for this to work, you must be using Vista Aero enabled theme within windows environment, so you have the glass effect on the edges of any open windows.

Definately use the Cyberlink PDVD8 codec for video or M$ one, either much better than MPV.

You are right, the problem is EVR. If I switch to VMR9 all works fine. I tried to setup Aero Glass correctly, and now I have a full featured Aero theme, but EVR still doesn't work. I ran the Vista performance test and got a very good result.
    What's the next step? :D

The only way I found to get everything working is to set the Video Renderer on VMR9. Why EVR doesn't work? I don't think I have compatibility issues with Catalyst 8.11 cause other people use it with EVR.

    Same here

    Graphics Card: Embedded ATI HD3200

I'm having exactly the same problem in WinXP. Tried nearly all codecs for h.264, but same results.
The thing is that in Windows Media Player I have no problems with the codecs.

Maybe it has to be something with the display?? (HDMI connection :1080p 60Hz and 1080i 30 Hz)

It also happens that launching an external player from MP casuses the same black screen, but using the same player outside MP works fine.

I've also tried to disable that "Keep Media Portal always on top" but doesn't seem to affect.

    Any clue?

Some guys says that "ССС -> 3D -> Anti-Aliasing -> Use Applicatiоn Setting" must be set. Than EVR start work and black screen issue gone. But mine is add HD4650.

That Anti-aliasing trick didn't work for me, but instead: dowload K-Lite Codec Pack, and with the Codec Tweak Tool, check all "Fixes" checkbox-tree options ,disable all codecs, apply changes (click "next" button), then enable the codecs you want (e.g: all). It worked for me. Now I'm very happy :)
