Hi, i'm using MP already for a long time. I've always (even with different hardware) had some small stutter/jerks while playing videos. I doesn't depend on hardware and i can't reproduce it. I've tried everything. Different codecs, refreshrate changer, different renderer and even different players at all. Nothing solved the problem. Now i've just checked out xbmc. Here the same problem. But i've played around with the settings and i was able to set it up to play videos absolutely smooth!
The responsable setting in xbmc to solve the problem was "Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen". So my question is: Is MP not using a real full screen? And can i somehow set MP up like xbmc. I love mp and would like to keep it...

Thanks for every help!

Are you using SAF5 codecs? If so, you can play the file through GraphStudio (included in the SAF package). I'm using SAF5.1, and it works beautifully. No problem regarding stuttering. And I also use IFC plugin to fill the screen. You could try it.

MP uses real fullscreen. You could try siwtching to window mode and enlarging it yourself to check if this helps in your case.

Thanks for your answers. But nothing helped...
Does somebody know how to connect to a remotegraph from windows mediaplayer or xbmc? For MP it's no problem. I can make a selection but with the other tow there is no item in the remote graphs list...

You cannot connect because they use directshow, but I still think it could be container format or codec that's the problem or even graphics driver are there any updates !!

If using mkv files does this still happen, as has been known to fix stuttering when put into such a container.

the stuttering is independent from file format. And like i told in my first post, xbmc is able to play the same file absolutely smoothy. So i don't think it's a dreiver problem. Perhaps it's a codec problem. But like i already told, i've tried almost everything. Is it possible to bring MP using directshow, too? Perhaps that would solve my problem.

Is there any way to show which codecs and renderers xbmc is using?

XBMC using FFMpeg library to play media (like VLC player) and OpenGL/DX as renderer. By other words, it have nothing to do with DirectShow players like MePo.

As a SAF user, can you play your problem video in Graphstudio? START - SAF - tool - graphstudio and see if it stutter here too.

There is no special "problem video". The stuttering is with every video and does not depend on a special file. You can see the stuttering best in scenes when the camera is moving from one to the other side. However i use a special file to check. It's the "planet earth" episode 3 starting from 3:09. There the camera is moving from left to right and you can see over a longer time period if there is stuttering or not.

Let's come to the Graphstudio Graph. When i drag and drop that file (planet earth) into the graphstudio workspace, it builds the graph like this:
File -> ffdshow video decoder -> video renderer
-> ffdshow audio decoder -> default direct sound device

when i build a remote graph connected to MP it looks like this:
File -> ffdshow video decoder -> enhanced video renderer
-> ffdshow audio decoder -> default direct sound device

The only difference seems to be that MP is using the evr (like i set up under config menu) instead of using video renderer.
So i drag the file to graphstudio and changed the video rendere to evr. The result was the same like in MP: Stuttering! Then i stoped the playback and went to my graphic card config menu. There i set it up to 24Hz (because the videosource is 23,9 fps). Then i restartet the playback under graphstudio. The result was MUCH BETTER! Almost no stuttering. In the whole scene only (but still) one stutter. After set i changed the video renderer back to the "video renderer". Under 24Hz the video was worse than before with same renderer under 60 Hz.

Hi Chris, do you have Aero enabled? Disabling it will result in tearing with EVR. As your problem is only with EVR, maybe that is the solution..

Oh wait, I see that you changed your refresh rate: Having a wrong refresh rate will definatly give stuttering. So go to MP Config, enable advanced config and turn on the ARC (Automatic Refreshrate Changer) / dynamic refresh rate (MP 1.2.0.0 Beta) and let it set the right refresh rate. For many video cards 23,9 fps is 23 Hz, that would remove the "one" stuuter probably as well.
