Folks a really strange (to me at least) problem.

Went away for a period (couple of weeks). Let a mate use the MP as he was baby siting. Now when I select "videos" from the main menu I do not see all the various folders I have configured to be shown. All that I see is four pages of "movies" that are about 1.30 minutes long.

Tried goofing around with various settings all to no avail.

Is there a database rebuild function that I can't find that might all MP to dispaly all the correct video folders I have configured in the configuration tool?
Can I delete a cache file or too to get MP to reread the data as configured in the MP Configurater tool?

A log of the current staus and actions is attached.

    Grateful for assistance!

    Cheers

Las I would appreaciate any assistance on this. I have just upgraded to 1.2.0.0 and still have the same issue. Otherwise I have to go and reinstall from scratch, which I am very recultant to consider.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi sparky21

From your description it seems like MP is remembering a default folder. Fire up MediaPortal configuration, expand the "videos" node, select "video folders" and ensure all the folders there are unticked. You might also want to untick "remember last used folder".

    Yep,

So I think my mate had started to ask MP to update the videos databse from inside of MP, not Moving Pictures as I have it configured currently. I have manually deleted all the entires in the database that "videos" is expecting, checked that I have no directories ticked and now MP shows me an empty play list of couirse, becuase it is still trying to read its internal databse, rather than just providing me with a view of the directories I have inserted into the Folders area.

How can I reset MP to show me only the folders view of my documentraries rather than the databse view of what it correctly pulled into its database?

I just tried selecting one of the directories in the configuration tool and tried again but no luck "tricking" the databse that is now active but without contents.

Is there a zero that can be set to a one, or something, in one of the configuration files? happy to manually edit something.

Thanks so much for the reply

    Hi again

I'd say in MP, go to the videos section, show the menu panel on the left hand side, and switch view to "shares".

Could kiss the ground you walk on! How many hours saved that I wasn't looking forward to. Just Awesome! Next contribution coming up. Thanks to you and the entire team for a great product!

How to I get it to stay in "shares" view please? Each time I now go in it wants to read the database view and I have to go manually reset

    Thanks thanks and thanks again!

    Hi again

Jump into MP configuration -> "Videos" -> "Video Folders", select an affected folder and then click "edit". Set the default layout to "list" then click "OK".
