RealVNC remote control and mp (1 Viewer)

I have been having strange issues with MP and Real VNC on Vista. Basically with MP running I can't click on anything from any other location, mouse moves, keyboard works. I shut down MP by alt-f4 and I then have a 50% chance of using the mouse click. I reboot and its fine for about a day. Any ideas?

I can't never get good response out of using VNC when running MP, I use it to gain access to the configuration after shutting down MP, that's about all it can handle on the local LAN even.

that's basically I want to use it for, but it just really sucks have to reboot just to get the mouse to work. I didn't have the issues prior to the 1.1 RCs so I just wondering if they have changed the way the are hooking for mouse events that conflict with VNC.

Never tried this myself, but have you ever used TightVNC instead of RealVNC?

realvnc +MP works fine as long MP run on XP, very nice & responsive, überbloat like vista & win7 does not work that good, also hogs more CPU. (if you are running mobile CPU for quietness, that's bad)

you should not publish that MS crap to internet, way too dangerous.
(I am an security professional)
you want something SSL based, especially because you most likely dont have OTP or any two-factor authentication at home.

Al, you're right but what about using it on a private lan?

You don't need extra software and currently, it runs quite well.

Sure, you can use it on LAN without any additional security risk.
Same with TightVNC or any other method.
Also, you could access an "unsecure" VNC/RemoteDesktop session across internet by extending your LAN by using VPN, like, for example OpenVPN.
