Hi all,

I have always used XP with Media Portal but am going to build a new system and was wondering if going to Windows 7 would be better suited for me now. I always use Hoborg's SAF pkgs as my codecs.

Would like to hear everyone's opinion.

:D

    Definitely Windows 7.

Apart from anything else, no-one on the team uses XP, so any bugs specific to XP (particularly for TV) will take longer to fix. Also, Win7 supports multiple TV cards without any problems.

Only problem I found was getting digital and analogue sound out at the same time....Works ok if you've got onboard Realtek card.

I'm only having problems with Win 7.

Videos are choppy on MP 1.1 Final and SAF4 on EVR
They slowdown like hell when the MP interface shows up.
Blacks are gray even on the normal Desktop.

Problems I did not have on XP

All other things being equal (which they aren't) I would go for W7 anyway. It takes sooooo long to get a XP box up and running these days, even if you have an installer with SP3 slipstreamed. If you don't then it takes so much longer. It's a complete nightmare, I hate having to work on it now.

So that combined with the better MP support and better driver support, W7 becomes a no brainer.
