    Synopsis::

    Most of my recordings take place when I'm out or not watching the TV. These are fine, and appear as single 'dvr-ms' files. However, when I'm watching a program (timeshifting on) and I decide to record it, it creates a very small 'dvr-ms' file (~15kb), with 'sbe' files for every 5 minutes of recording. I am able play the recording and 'compress' it to a single 'mpg' file, so in terms of operability there is no problem. Is this normal though?

    Yep, this is correct.

    When you tell MP to "record now" and then select "current program" it uses the timeshift buffer to recreate the beginning of the program so you don't lose anything. It would be nice if id did convert it into DVRMS automatically, but like you said, it works fine and you can make it MPG if you want to.

    I think it's a great function, to be able to record a show *after* it has screened :)

    Marcusb,

    Thanks for your response, all clear to me now. As you say, the timeshift functionality is great. In fact, overall I'm very happy with MP nowadays, and I even have my 69-year old father using it without any problems on his PC. Great work from the development team to now have a much more stable, yet still highly versatile, program. Thanks!
