Record ONCE A WEEK on this channel (1 Viewer)

A TV show comes on every Saturday. Sometimes it starts at 8pm other times 8:15pm. It is repeated throughout the week due.

I need a recording option to RECORD ONCE A WEEK on this channel. The nearest is 'record every time on this channel'. Of course, this records the Saturday shows with the 'staggered times' perfectly. HOWEVER, it also then sets up recordings for all the repeats. This results in clashing with other shows and is a pain.

In Windows MCE, there was no issue with this. Simply click 'series record' and it would quite simply record the show on the Saturday when it was on and NOT RECORD ANY REPEATS.

Am I missing something obvious? Or should there simply be a 'record once a week on this channel' option?

Thanks

Are any of the repeats on at a consistent time? If not, the closest recording options are:

4. Record every week at this time.
5. Record every day at this time.

They both imply that the recording will be "on this channel". However, they won't be able to deal with the changing time. You could try setting up two recording jobs - one that started at 8:00pm and the other that started at 8:15 pm. I've seen some situations where MP won't start a job if the start time of the show doesn't match the start time of the job. If that 'rule' is consistent, only one job would start and you would get consistent recording. The downside is that since the jobs overlap you would see a conflict, but at least you wouldn't be recording all the repeats and dealing with multiple conflicts.

I agree that 'series record' would be the best solution.

    Hi drfelch,

I agree with Furetto. Check out the Rule-based scheduler. I've used it for some time now and it really changed the way you schedule recordings. It got loads of powerful options, such as "record around" a given time, etc.

I now there is a web-i/f so you can access it from remove and manage your schedules ;)
