folks,

I see this in my logs a lot (the TSWriter.log file). Shows appear to get recorded, I can watch TV etc. There is a slight video stutter (audio seems fine) which I have been meaning to troubleshoot (with your help) but it is just not annoying enough for me to take the time. Can somebody speak as to what is going on here?

Can be caused by a lot of things, so we would need your System Specs and need to know if you use a Single Seat or Multi Seat setup. And full debug logs

Possible issues/solutions:

• Make sure your Antivirus software isn't scanning the Timeshifting, Recording & program files folder from MediaPortal
• When using Multi Seat, set fixed IP's
• Harddisk activity (I/O) can cause continuity errors

I will get full debug logs (do I just start in debug, get some live TV going, stop TV and end debug?). Meanwhile some more info:

* I have a single seat config (I watch TV on the same machine I record from).
* no antivirus software running (firewall is turned off)
* i have MP live tv buffer and recordings to go to an SSD drive (which is also the system drive, two different partitions).
* windows 7 32bit on a 4 core i7 machine with 8GB of RAM (I know not all 8 are addressable)
* intel graphics

OK, then take a look @ the first link (TV Server FAQ) and look @ the loopback adapter option. It might help you.
Your system specs are high enough and timeshifting on an SSD should be more then enough for the I/O activity.

You're correct on how to collect the debug logs. Easiest way to start it is from the Debug-mode link in your start menu. This will (after closing MP) generated a zip file on your desktop, which you can upload here.

I took a look at the loopback stuff but I don't think this is going to work. I need a network connection anyway to get to the HD homerun (laptop is ethernet connected to the wall, the wall connection terminated on a 1Gpbs switch and on the same switch is the hd home run, a router hands out the IPs).

let me know what you find in the logs!

Did you check the logs? They're clean now
But zapping probably doesn't expose this issue, so you need to watch a channel for a couple of minutes.
As you can see from the timeline in the log in your first post, there can be 4/5 minutes in between the contuinity errors.

What also might help is run MediaPortal in windowed mode after the first test, and keep your Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + ESC) open (Performance tab) and check your Disk activity while watching TV.

From the looks of your log files, I think the continuity errors are occurring only when you're timeshifting/recording with both tuners.

And this might also be a result of the above:

ok let's look at the errors one by one:

1) RecordingFileHandler: Error while deleting a recording from disk: The process cannot access the file 'D:\Recorded TV...' because it is being used by another process.

this is caused by me. I tried to delete something while it was being commercial flagged.

2) unable to add BDA MPEG2 Transport Information Filter filter:0x4022D

expert says this is not a real error, so I am ignoring

3) [PS StandbyWakeup] [ERROR] - PS: Cannot connect to local tvservice to load settings

If this is truly happening when waking up the machine, then it is not a problem as I only put the machine to sleep by accident. It stays on all the time (it is a laptop). Nevertheless, the few times I have put it to sleep, I can't say that I have noticed any problems with functionality when it comes back out of sleep (tuners seem good, tv works etc).

4) continuity error

expert says this is only happening when I am recording two shows. I am in the middle of recording one show in debug (will let it go for 10 mins), and we will see if that is right.


All in all I don't know why I still have stuttering when I am watching TV or something recorded (I don't have any of that when I am playing an avi file, or a dvd etc). Can somebody help me troubleshoot?[DOUBLEPOST=1377792681][/DOUBLEPOST]ok here is proof that it happens with one show recording.

Also I still see this:
