No problems, glad I could be of some use :) Only hope my recordings will work the coming days.

Sorry to be a bother but it did not work... What seems to be the problem is this situation (I am not sure but this is the only common denominator I have found with the failings and lockup of one tunercard):
I have two recordings running, one analog (5) and one digital (6). Both recordings end at 20.00 and there are new scheduled recordings that start at 20.00. The new recordings are one digital on the same channel as before (6) and one analog on a new channel (7). In this situation the new digital recording starts as expected but the analog recording fails to start since there are no free cards. In the log-file one can see that the analog recording tries for approx 10min and after that nothing more happens and the old analog recording keeps on running and I have to power off the computer to stop it.

Any clues?

    In the log-file...
I think you forgot to attach this. ;)

No bother, I'm here to help. :)

What seems to be the problem is this situation (I am not sure but this is the only common denominator I have found with the failings and lockup of one tunercard):
I have two recordings running, one analog (5) and one digital (6). Both recordings end at 20.00 and there are new scheduled recordings that start at 20.00. In this situation the new digital recording starts as expected but the analog recording fails to start since there are no free cards.
I think the key in the above scenario is the overlapping analog recordings and the lack of available tuners. For the digital recording, TV Server can reuse the tuner that is already recording because it is already tuned to the same transponder. However I suspect that the same problem that you see with the analog recording would also be seen if the digital recordings were from channels on different transponders - it would be worth testing this.

    Does that make sense?

So what seems to be happening is that the TV Server is getting stuck in a loop looking for a tuner to use for the second analog recording. It won't stop the first analog recording until it can find a tuner for the second recording... but this is a circular ("chicken and egg" - which came first) problem. I intended to build a debug version of the TV service today for you to try but I have run out of time. I will try and get this to you as soon as possible, time permitting. Until then, I think a workaround would be not to use pre/post padding on back-to-back recordings.

Ah, the log-file, can attach it if you would like but I am not sure whether it will help or not. Your reasoning makes a lot of sense and I was thinking in the same way when I started manual testing today with different scenarios to see what might trigger this behavior. However, what I has noticed so far is one case where

I have made five different tests so far, with four of them nothing special happened:
Manual start/stop recording on two analog channels, one scheduled recording, two scheduled recordings ending on different times (two tests).

The fifth test was two recordings ending the same time and here I noticed a problem. After the recording is ended, in tv-server configuration under manual control, the hauppauge-card is idle but "tuned" to a channel and has a User entry "scheduler139". At this moment when I try to start timeshift on another channel I get a really weird behavior and tv-server configuration hangs. At restart the cinergy-card is redmarked in manual control (hope all this makes sense)

I have attached two logs, tv.log from the actual test5 and tv.log from my timeshift-tries after test5 (tried timeshifting only on TV3)

Will try to verify the result by making the same test again.

A new test under similar conditions did not give the same result :-( Will make more tests and see if I can find a cause...

    Hi again!
Been trying some more to reproduce the erroneous behavior under controlled forms but failed so I can still not say exactly how to recreate it. Seems like it happens randomly when recording from two sources at the same time and it is always an analog (hauppauge?) tuner that refuses to let go.

I will try now to use one card for pure analog and one for DVB-C and see if that changes anything but, since this was my last day of vacation it is back to testing in the real world tomorrow and I am not sure when I will have more time to test this.

Once again, Thank You mm for taking the time.

I'm back... hope it is ok to continue my old thread. Work and a messy private life has prevented me from examining my problems in greater detail, however, even though I now have set one card to only record analog and the other to only record digital channels I still get the same problem from time to time, last time tonight.
What has occurred to me when I have been looking into the tv-log the last times I have gotten these neverstopping recordings is that there is not even an attempt to stop the recording (as far as I can understand). This night I tried to record a couple of shows and to explain the logs:
On digital: Simpsons and family guy (2+2shows) between 1900 and 2100. At 2100-2325 I recorded "In the name of the king" and they all worked fine. At 2345 a recording of "Truman Show" where supposed to start but never did.
On analog: I recorded "Sagan om konungens återkomst" at 2000-0010, there might have been a scheduled recording after but I am not sure and mediaportal has removed all scheduled entries prior to now. The recording "Sagan om konungens återkomst" never stopped at 0010 but had to be manually stopped by restarting the computer a couple of hours later.

The logs are from after the restart of the computer so I hope all relevant information is still there.
