Recording only new shows (1 Viewer)

I've got 1.1b setup with the TV service recording great from my HDHR using XMLTV and SchedulesDirect for U.S. ATSC. What do I need to setup so that I only get First Run TV shows? Looking at the tvguide.xml file there's a date field that appears to contain the first showing...is that used in any way?

I'm also interested to know this. In the tvguide.xml there is an xml tag called "<new />" on new episodes. Is this utilized?
