    Thanks robbo100, that's perfect. (y)
I think at this point we can safely say that the finish time on the recording is a symptom.
If that recording is not going to stop at the correct time, the next test is to schedule a recording for a random program that is currently running. No matter what the result is, I'd be very keen to see the log files.

Oops, I just saw this after I posted my logs.

Right - I will view a channel, then select a "Record Current Program", and post the results with another set of logs.[DOUBLEPOST=1384553989][/DOUBLEPOST]How do I do watchdog? - Sorry, considering I used to be a team member, I am a complete bafoon![DOUBLEPOST=1384554254][/DOUBLEPOST]OK, I tried to record the currently watched program, using my main client, and the recording didn't start (logs attached).

If you could do it from the EPG that would be ideal. I'd like the scheduler to actually have to tune the channel. So rather than viewing a channel, please could you simply schedule a currently running program. The recording should start immediately if the scheduler is behaving correctly.

How do I do watchdog? - Sorry, considering I used to be a team member, I am a complete bafoon!

Basically, use the watchdog/debug-mode link in your start menu. Use option 3 to export existing log files. Post the resulting zip file. Pretty straightforward. :)

Ahhh, sorry, the client debug, sorry, i thought you were referring to a specific TV Server debug (that I didn't know about). I used Option 1, because I was able to run MP client without any crashing, is this a problem?

Right, attached is the results of the debug, where I followed your instructions for setting a manual recording for an unwatched channel (note: it did not record - but live TV continues to work fine). I ran this from my server, so you should have client and server side logs within the debug log files (I think).

I am going to have to head to bed shortly, before I turn into a pumpkin. Thanks for all your help mm, I will continue to work with you on this tomorrow if you have free time.

Cheers mate, I really appreciate it.

Okay everyone, I think we're looking at some kind of issue with the scheduler thread stalling somewhere. Please could you install the attached TvService.exe and post the logs when the problem happens. Note the logs will be very verbose... but this is the only way that I can think of to easily hunt down this problem.

    Instructions:
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Go to the "manual control" section and click "stop service".
    3. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the TV Server install folder (typically c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server).
    4. Take a backup of TvService.exe.
    5. Download and extract the attached TvService.exe to replace your existing TvService.exe.
    6. Restart the TvService.
    7. Reproduce the problem (may take several days).
    8. Post log files.

Note: this TvService.exe is compatible with MP 1.5 and MP 1.5 PR. It is not compatible with any other versions of MediaPortal.

    Thanks in advance. :)

The problem occured with the very first recording that I tried. It hasn't reached the expected finish time yet, but here are the logs from when the recording started.

What do you mean by "the problem"? Do you mean that the finish time is same as start time? If so, I think that is normal until the recording stops. The scheduler thread still appears to be running fine. Please post logs again if the recordings don't stop at the correct time. :)

[edit: In fact, I can confirm that the finish time and zero length are normal while the recording is running. Just started a recording myself and see the same thing (though I don't experience the recording not stopping problem).]

Right, so we see that the scheduler thread is getting locked up here:
[2013-11-16 08:45:11,532] [Log ] [scheduler thread] [INFO ] - debug: check and delete orphaned recordings

I can't tell exactly where the lockup occurred so new build attached. I suspect the lockup may occur in different places and that the DB or PowerScheduler may ultimately be the problem here.
Are you able to check your MySQL log files and see if there is anything in there. Either slow queries or errors...

Sorry mm, I have been out all day.

Right, I have inserted the new TV Service, and will try to recreate.
