recording with timeshift (1 Viewer)

Hi. I Start watch TV (with a big timeshift buffer on the harddisk.)
After 10 minutes I can go back to the beginning of the movie.
If I start record now. The record started from the live position - not from the beginning of the movie.

How can I record the complete movie under this condition?

Hi,

The short answer is that you cannot. MP does not allow recording from the timeshift buffer.

There has been much discussion on this feature and there is a half-finished implementation of this... However the original developer of this feature didn't finish it and noone yet has picked up the torch and continued working on it (unfortunately).

Short answer, you can't. It is only partly coded, and original developer isn't working on it.

It is already on our 'wishlist' in mantis

- 0002855: [TvServer] experimental feature "Recording from buffer" is nolonger working (gemx) - Work in Progress.

but it would only go into a release if it is working and tested.

Bottom line - this is not a current feature of MP.

I certainly hope they implement this feature. As much as I love MP I can't believe the ability to record the timeshift buffer is still not possible. This is a feature of some of the cheapest PVR's and certainly several HTPC applications. I hope it gets some attention soon. All the best to the MP team.
