There has been a major bug in MP for quite a while now in the recordingssection.
It's about stopping recordings that's quite inconsistant. ;)
Very often when I try to stop a recording it just starts up again!
I finally managed to collect some logs for it (only to find out my thread was removed already...).
There are several ways to stop recordings:
- Watch the hannel that's recording and hit the record button
- Go to recordings and try to delete the running recording (MP will ask you if you want to stop this recording)
- Go to tv main screen, go to active recordings and hit the recording you want to stop
- Go to t guide, select the recording show, select 'edit recording', hit 'don't record'and select 'only this show'
- Go to t guide, select the recording show, select 'edit recording' and hit the show on the top

All these methods should work....unfortunalely they don't, they act up very inconsitantly. I don't know if that depends on the recording chosen (every time on every channel, etc.) or something else. I hope someone can fix this anoying bug soon! :)
I've seen many people reporting this over time.
good luck!

Logs attached.

It's about stopping recordings that's inconsistant as hell.

No need to swear, it won't help the bug get fixed :p

Stopping works here. Please try to limit the error to some specific recording type. It will help the bug to get fixed.

Sorry 'bout the swearin' :) shame on me :p

I almost always use 'record every time on every channel'
It seems to happen mostly when I try to stop recordings that have started but are in their pre- or postrecording time. But I'm not sure about that.

    Hello.

    Same behavior here.

    Following conditions:
    - sheduled recording "every time on every channel"
    - watching the recording channel in live-TV fullscreen
    - stopping recording by pressing the record-buton on the remote

When EPG data shows that the sheduled show is actually playing, then recording starts again and again every time i try to stop it.
When the EPG data has changed to the show afterwards, stopping is possible.

I had issues with manually stopping in-progress recordings, where the system would crash or hang (no further response from remote).

The way I solved it was related to comskip. I upgraded comskip and found that it wasn't working properly. I eventually found (after reading the comskip docs) that if you are using Vista, you need to manually run comskip by double-clicking the executable and 'allow it to run' when the UAC box pops up.

    Here are the conditions:
    1. Vista OS
    2. Comskip set to run at end of a recording
    3. Comskip not 'initialised' properly after installation (or upgrade)

When a recording is stopped manually, it effectively becomes the 'end of a recording', and fires up comskip. If comskip wasn't installed correctly - as described above - it will hang.

In this case, it wasn't a bug in MP. Rather, an incorrectly installed plugin...

Not sure if this relates to your problem, but may be worth looking into :)

    Hi!

I was able to reproduce this and submitted a fix to svn 23844. Thanks for the good steps to reproduce!
See mantis: 0002501: Unable to stop recordings of type everytime on every channel in FullScreenTV - MediaPortal Bugtracker for more details.

To all you other that have reported problems in this thread, I tried all possible combinations of your reported problems but this was the only one that didn't work as expected for me.

Thanx for fixing this issue for the recording section.
Maybe the change of code will also solve the other issues with stopping recordings, like stopping recordings in their pre-recording time (this happended when watching the channel and hitting the record button only briefly stopped the recording, but also when trying to stop the recording in the tv main section under the 'running/active recordings' button), stopping running recordings in the 'recorded tv' section and stopping recordings in the recordplannings section of a show.
    hope so :)
