This tool will import a directory of dvr-ms or ts/xml files to your mediaportal database so that you can view them in the recordings section of MyTV.

It shouldn't break your system but don't blame me if it does! BACKUP your database first.

Due to data not being available the tool uses default content for a few of the fields (namely keepuntil is 0, keepuntil date is 01/01/2000 12:00:00, timeswatched is 0 and stoptime is 0). The Channel Number is not stored in the xml file but the name is included so this tool will attempt to lookup the channel number, if it can't, it will use the first channel number in the db. It uses the ID of the first server that is set to master.

DVR-MS Note: I have only tested this on dvr-ms recordings from windows media center however, as dvr-ms is a standard, the meta-data *should* be the same for other programs but I don't yet know.

Please let me know of any bugs you encounter or any feedback you have.

Chris

The tool will install from the internet and copy the dlls to the right places. It can all be removed again from add/remove programs. It will also automagically update whenever there is a new version available.

I was so close! SQL syntax error! I've updated the first post with a fixed version. Let me know if you get on any better.

Ahh, its missing the directxaudiovideo dll that I use to get the duration from ts files. I (incorrectly it seems) assumed that this came with directx as standard, I wonder if I can package it up with my tool, I hope so! I'll look into it

Gibman, can you tell me what version of directx you have installed on the machine you are trying to run this on?

    Thanks

    Hi Joystick,

I can have a look at mpeg files. Do your mpeg files have any meta-data with them (an xml file or something)? If not then I will mostly have to either makeup the meta-data or prompt for it (which i'll make configurable of course). Also, I think I need to stop listing the sucessful files on the status prompt, I did 85 files yesterday and so the bottom of the prompt was well off the screen! Next version!

well, you can configure MP to provide xml data, so yes, they usually have xml-data I think corresponding to the ts-files....

    cheers
