Reinstallation woes. Synching & IR problems (1 Viewer)

Due to synching problems amongst others I've tried reinstalling MP & all the Hauppauge drivers and software.

So two questions -

Why can't I get the Hauppauge IR to work?
It does operate the Hauppauge software. IR.exe starts up with Windows and seems configured to operate the Hauppauge suite. MP configuration says there are no Hauppauge drivers installed. Eventghost can also not find IRRemote .dll (which is in the Hauppauge installation directory).

Why am I getting TV synching issues in MP? The sound is often 1 second or more behind the picture. The hauppauge suite displays TV fine.

I must say that I have had a few problems using with the Hauppauge IR utility and logs possibly won't help with this. MP uses registry keys installed by the Hauppauge software to determine whether it is installed and where to find it. What I found is that the registry location is sometimes not correct for some reason. An uninstall and reinstall of IR32 seemed to fix this for me. I'd recommend you do the same. One thing's for sure: if MP doesn't see the required DLLs then it won't work.

Regarding the sync issues: definitely post logs.

According to those logs, the Hauppauge remote isn't enabled at the moment. I guess you disabled it considering it wasn't working.

Your system specs are:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ (~2 GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
1 GB of RAM

That video card is pretty low end for running MP. The CPU also isn't crash-hot - you almost certainly won't be able to handle HD content. This may be part of the sync problem. The other part is that you haven't set your codec preferences. This is absolutely *critical*. Please go into MP configuration -> codecs and renderer -> TV tab and set the values there. Based on what is currently installed on your system I'd recommend you use FFDShow video for h.264 and MPEG 2 video, FFDShow audio for MPEG/AC3 and DD+ audio, and Monogram for AAC audio.

After you've done that, try to view TV again. If you still have problems, please report your CPU usage while viewing TV. You may need to use alt+enter to switch MP to windowed mode so that you can view task manager (ctrl + alt + delete) at the same time.

Apologies for my ageing setup. I can't bring myself to spend more cash on legacy architecture like AGP. Still its quiet and does what I need.

If I record TV and play it back it it synchs OK.

If I watch TV on my laptop streaming the TV from MP's TVServer, it synchs fine.

If I watch TV on the MediaServer the synching goes out. CPU use is about 50% on one core, 10% on the other.

I've changed the codecs (back to?) MPC MPEG2 & MPC MPA.

Next, what's up with the remote?
