Hi there, I am a new user of the MP and since installation I been having problems with my MCE remote control.

I have installed this plugging hoping that it might help and still not working.

The main issue that I have is the fact that when I press up or down it seems to jump 2 (channels, guide lines, etc). It is like I was pressing the key twice.

So I noticed that you have added a setup screen where you can change the time between repeats etc, but even if I change that screen (I have tried everything I can think on) it doesn't seem to fix the problem.

In some cases it seems like it fixed, but after changing the screen (from TV, to TV Recordings, etc) it seems like it works wrong again.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot.

You need to disable MediaPortal's native MCE Remote support and you also need to remote the button mappings for the replacement driver by clicking "Map Buttons" and then "Remove Replacement Mappings".

Let me know if that helps,

    Aaron,

First of all thanks. I don't know how you keep up with all of us making so many questions.

It did work, now everytime I press a key, it only repeats it one time.

On the down side, now most of my remote keys (like Guide, Live TV, etc) do not respond. I tried un-installing everything (MP, the plugin, etc), deleting folders and all sorts and installing them again, but still I cannot get the orignal codes to show up.

I also tried to "teach" but either I am very dumb or I am doing something wrong cause I am not able. I read the help section, but even if I stand on top of the command and press the remote key, nothing happens.

I guess the follow up question is, how do I get the standard MCE Remote IR codes installed again?

    Thanks a lot,

    Nano

In the "Map Buttons" section click "Reset" and all the standard mappings will return. Then click "Remove Replacement Mappings" to get rid of the replacement mappings.

As for teaching/learning the IR codes. There are issues with that function, It's been the bane of my existence for some time now. I'm working on solutions. All I can say is that if you're still interested in the MCE Replacement Plugin and you see a new release go out, give it a try, it might be fixed ... maybe :(

    Cheers,

    Aaron,

After hours of messing around, uninstalling everything I have, and installing it again (except Windows XP) I still cannot get it to work.

I tried your reset and delete mapping but still cannot get it to work past up, down, left, right and ok.

Is there any way to overwrite the codes somehow?

    Thanks....Regards,

    Mariano

    Hey,

Try the "Different Remote" section. If you can map your buttons there then that might help.

Maybe you're remote is not 100% MCE compatible ... can you tell me a little more about your setup?

For example, is it a Microsoft MCE remote or is it differently branded? Does it look like one of the two on this page:
    http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm

If you've got a Version 1 remote it won't work. If you've got a different MCE "Compatible" remote then you might need to do the "Different Remote" thing I mention above.

Are you using XP or XP MCE ? Do you have SP2 installed?

I'll try to get to the bottom of this with you. So give the things I've said above a try and let me know about the details I'm after and we'll see what we can do.

    Cheers,

    Aaron,

    Here we go:

Remote: is a MCE (on the back says RC6 ir - Pat 5.877.702) it looks a lot like V2 but it has 4 more buttoms on the bottom red green yellow and blue
The remote was working alright (except the duplication of comands)

The receiver is the IRTrans built in a Origen AE X15e

    I am using XP SP2.

On the other remote, it doesn't seem to learn the code, I stand on the command and press the keys but it doesn't take the codes.

    Hope that this might help.

    Cheers,

    Nano

ok, I believe it is due to the IRTrans component. I'm afraid the MCE Replacement plugin does not support IRTrans at this stage.

I have IRTrans on my TO DO list for my new plugin/app system, but it is not a high priority at this stage.

I'm very sorry for the time you've wasted. Unfortunately the term "MCE Compatible" is a little misleading. It often means that a device combined with it's software will work with Windows MediaCenter. It does not refer to any inherent compatibility at a hardware level.

I will look into IRTrans support for my new plugin/app suite, if it's easy enough to add then I'll do it straight away. If it's going to be difficult I'll have to put it off for later.

    Cheers,

    Aaron,

Thanks for all your time and guidance. Hopefuly the next release will include it, if not no worries, I will figure something up.

The only thing that it is very strange to me, is the fact that was working before, so somewhere along the lines of me touching every setup I must have disable it.

Anyhow, thanks a lot again, it has been great having you there.

    Cheers,

    Nano

All I can recommend is uninstalling and then reinstalling the driver from the device from the Device Manager. Then disable and uninstall the MCE Replacement Plugin and re-enable anything you disabled in MediaPortal setup.

I'll let you know if I implement any IRTrans support in the future.

    Good luck,
