My error report again after nobody seems to be interested in my problem :-(

My Remote Control (Hauppauge PVR 150 remote) stops working if I enter/enable LiveTV.

I had a clean 0.2.0.4 ==> it worked with no Problems
Installed SVN-Version ==> Remote stops working
Removed SVN-Version und backed up 0.2.0.4 ==> Remote control works no more
Removed 0.2.0.4 hard and all I found in the Registry, reinstalled fresh 0.2.0.4 ==> Problem still exists ...

I believe the error is in some of the filters/systemfiles which are installed by console ...

Could at least somebody tell my where i can found the remote logs ?? In MP/logs/* there is no log file ... :-(

regards Freeman

Update:

I tried the WTVIRBridge + the WinLirc3 Plugin for MP and i got some key's to work. If I enter LiveTV these keys continues working so that I can rule out that my problem is related to any hardware/driver problems.

Could somebody tell me how the Hauppauge remote part in MP works so that I can search for the bug ???

I don't use this remote, but I think I remember someone suggesting that with new versions of MP you have to untick the 43 button box or something like that. There are two different types and it's now more particular about getting the right one.

Oh, sounds hard. What did you mean with "untick"?
What I don't understand is that if I migrate back to 0.2.0.4, where the remote worked nicely before, the remote now don't works anymore.
Does the SNV-Builds MP install something like a "drive" which acts like a broker between the IR driver and MP???

There was no change in code on that part since ages.

Removal of other Hauppauge remotes is not needed for 34- or 45-button remotes.

Hauppauge remotes get logged into MediaPortal.log, you have to enable "extended logging" and set MP logging to "Debug" to get the full output.

Although you might think it's not a driver issue, it most probably is. Sorry to say that.

Please follow the instructions on this page RELIGIOUSLY (very important to avoid "hidden" conflicts you won't really notice): http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?p=25253

Hmm, i reinstalled the device drivers following the instuctions on http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?p=25253.
But the Problem still exists. Okay, the Remote part of MP hasn't changed, but may it be that the part where the TV-Card is been initialized for Grabbing has been changed ?

I append my logs (Debug-Mode, Remote extended Logging), maybe you see something I'm not able to see.

    Ohhh, found something interesting:

It seems as the remote is still working but the commands aren't processed.

    Before LiveTV (Remote works)

In that case a fresh 0.2.0.4 installation would still work, wouldn't it? As you said in your first post, it worked for 0.2.0.4 before, but is broken now with any version.

Seems like all of a sudden the UDP traffic between HCWHelper & MP doesn't come through anymore. Try disabling all firewalls and whatever you got installed that can influence local network traffic.

Almost forgot to mention: I checked it here and the remote works perfectly.

So, solved the problem ... I don't know how or why but a fresh reinstall of WinXP did help ... :)
That's the reason why I like Linux ... more (system) logging, more possibilities to analyse and the possibility to replace small parts/libraries with a newer fresher version ;-)

mPod&marcusb: Thank you for your help. Really.

mPod: Is there any documentation about structures and dependencies of MP ? I was surprised that the remote control part is a separat part (hcwhelp) and that it interacts with hcw over udp. I could not determine the port it uses (ethereal didn't sniff packets which are transmited over the local only interface/127.0.0.1). Are you using COM+? I'd like to analyse deeper the next time a problem appears ;-)

After this you can close the thread :)

    Thank you again
And be sure I'll annoy you again the next time strange behavior appears in cause of my damn win*** system.

    regards, Freeman

Okay, for a couple of hours it worked ... But now the same problem :-(
May it depend on Media Player 11 ? I've got the feeling the problem began as i installed MS-MP11 ... But I also changed some settings in MP-Setup ... I'll try to reproduce my steps ...

Slowly I believe it depends on some Updates/Hotfixes I installed from MS.
