Remote Control (1 Viewer)

My Media Center PC has a TV Tuner which did have a remote, but I lost it ages ago lol. Anyways, I still have the lil IR dongle to plug into the card and i've been trying to get a universal remote to work with it, but no such luck. I brought a USB IrDa adapter on eBay for £5 and I also found the remote control which was for my old barebone PC. Photo of remote: http://www.freewebs.com/jdihosting/Admin/Geon106/remote.JPG

Is there any way I can use my barebone remote control with my existing htpc? or any way to get a universal remote to work with the computer/Media Portal?

Not sure about the remote but that IRda adapter will be useless, it doesnt work on the same frequency and its range is poor; its not suitable for use with remote controls, its data only.

What about the IR receiver on the TV Tuner? Surely theres a way I can utilize that?

It's better if you can get a remote with a usb receiver as it gives you a lot more flexibility.

If it plugs directly into the card then it might only be accessable through that cards software or programmed to only accept certain commands sent by the old remote.

indeed it does connect directly to the TV card and I can't get a universal remote to work with it

i'll probs just wait till I get a new TV Tuner card instead then.
