Very new to MediaPortal and got it working great BUT how do you get a Remote Control to work with it ?

I currently use a Harmony 515 programmed for WMC and it controls all of Windows Media Center - is there a specific programming for MediaPortal as only very few of the commands work in MediaPortal (eg. Sound, Guide not working etc)

WMC is dis-abled by the way

    Hello and welcome,

If your Harmony is set up as a MCE remote, it should work out if the box. Make sure that you did NOT activate the MCE option on the MCE tab. Instead take a look at the HID tab.

On the HID tab you should have "Use generic HID device" ticked.
On the Media tab as well as the MCE tab you should not tick any option.

I trust that your IR receiver is fully eHome compatible, is it?

There are basically two types of remote that claim to be "WMC compatible":

    (1) Those that send encoded IR signals that pass through the device-driver for the "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver". This is what Microsoft's own remote control sent.

    (2) Those that appear to Windows as a keyboard device, and so send WMC keyboard shortcuts. The problem with these is that MP keyboard shortcuts are (mostly) different from WMC keyboard shortcuts.

So the important question is: What IR receiver are you using? This will determine whether you are case (1) (probably solvable), or case (2) (a nightmare).

Yes, I didn't know about this:-

On the HID tab you should have "Use generic HID device" ticked.
On the Media tab as well as the MCE tab you should not tick any option.
