Hi there
i'm currently using the media portal software with a hauppage remote control and it works a charm. I have bought another pc and have got the official microsoft remote control that came with it. Will this work with the media portal software?

    Yes, it should work straight away.

    Just check that in MediaPortal Configuration you have the MCE remote enabled.
