Ok so I bought this cheap remote (http://dx.com/p/driver-free-universal-usb-ir-media-remote-controller-for-pc-2-aaa-27596) and surprisingly it works almost perfectly with Media Portal. The important Play, Stop Forward, Back buttons do not so this is a big issue.
Now I actually bought the remote for the IR receiver, hoping that I might be able to use my Logitech Harmony 700. I figured $8 was worth taking a chance.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the IR Receiver is working with the 700 or perhaps I'm not setting up my 700 properly.
So I have 2 questions. Is there a way to test the IR Receiver to see if it is the right type.
Also is it possible to reconfigure the Defaults in Media Portal to use the cheap remote's play stop etc buttons? I'm not overly excited to use the remote but the mouse control feature is pretty damn cool.
