Hello all,

I am still having black bars when watching widescreen movies on my 16:9 screen.
The bars are still there at "14:9 Zoom" - which is the mode with the smalles black bars here - but they still take up 1/5 of the screen. I want to keep the aspect ratio and I don not want a distored image, so I do not want the stretch-zoom.

However, I do not mind when a part of the image would be cropped. So how can I make mediaportal to use the full screen and crop a part´of the image?

Thanks,
Hella

Nope, Zoom function should be able to remove all the black bars, unless the black bars are in the stream, then the zoom function detects a fullscreen picture.
21:9 might also leave black bars, but not sure about that.
16:9 should definitely go full-screen (just test a TV series)

Thanks for your answer. How do I know if the black bars are in the stream or not?
You are right, there are no black bars in tv series, but at movies there are. I remember that in windows media center I was able to zoom, so that even for movies I never had black bars. How can I achieve this with mediaportal?

Use MediaInfo to check the resolution of the video file. If it's a 16:9 resolution on a 16:9 TV, and you can't zoom the bars away, you can assume they're in the video.

How can I achieve this with mediaportal?
Zoom is 'S' on keyboard for Fullscreen Video (red teletext on MCE remote if i'm right).

I was able to see the Resolution of the ts-files in the properties dialog of Windows Explorer, all have the resolution 720x576 and some of them Show black bars, some not, so the black bars must be in the stream.

Zoom is 'S' on keyboard for Fullscreen Video (red teletext on MCE remote if i'm right).

red Teletext Switches only between full screen and small preview window, but 'S' is working. However, this is the same like in the zoom-menu, where no zoom mode removes the black bars.

I have tried it also with movies I recorded within Windows media Center, where I was able to zoom in even if there were black bars on the stream.in Windows media Center, but in mediaportal it's not possible,

So it's either a bug (because documentation says it removes the black bars) or it would be a new Feature (zoom further, even if borders are reached and parts of the movíe would be cropped).
