Renamed TV Server (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I just renamed the machine, the TV-Server is running on. MediaPortal detected the missing tv-server and let me change the name. But the configuration of the TV-Server did not.
Every time I start the configuration of the TV-Server, I am getting an error-message that the old server-name is not available.
What do I need to do to tell the TV-Server-Config the new name?
It's really only about the configuration. The TV-Server is still running fine.

Hi there,

I've had the same issue in the past.

Depending on who you speak to/where you read, some people say you simply edit a table in the DB that has the server name in it - That never worked for me.

I tried running the backup plugin/export before doing the rename, and then reimporting/restore after the name change. All of the config imported ok, but it gave me non "init" tuner cards - but all the channels, config, etc was there.

After spending ages trying to find a fully working solution, I gave up. I uninstalled TV Server, reinstalled it and manually reapplied all the config/changes. That was the only way I guarenteed that everything worked again.

Hi,

after some more searching, I did the same thing and it worked.
Not really a brilliant solution and I don't really understand why MP is not able to detect this kind of change...

If you rename a macine running SQL 2005 Express, the old name is still stored in metadata in the SQL-server.
