Satellite TV in New Zealand is now broadcast from Koreasat 6, which has trundled round from 116E to 160E. Can we have an updated satellite list download please?
In the meantime, I have done single transponder scans pretending they come from satellite Optus D1 at 160E in Mediaportal (which was probably really D2) using the data on LyngSat and Freeview NZ. FYI Koreasat 6 has also passed its end-of-life date but still works. It is to be replaced by Optus 11 when it is available. Estimates vary from 2025 to 2027. I am on Mediaportal 1 V1.36.

I don't know what is needed (I have never used satellite TV).
The person who does know what is needed is... you.

If you create the file needed and attach it to this thread,
one of the developers will (hopefully) add it to the next release of MP1.

Are you able to provide a step by step guide on how to do the work around. I am not very knowledgeable on this stuff. I have tried to save the file in this thread in the dvds directory and rename it etc, but I can't work out the satellite.xml and there appears to be an ini file that needs sorting. It’s not urgent as the satellite is my backup, but it is frustrating. Thanks in advance.

I’ll have a go later today. But the show-stopper is this. Can your card do DVB-S2? It’s needed for Koreasat6 even for SD TV.

    1. The card needs to support DVB-S2 and MP1 needs to be recent. I think DVB-S2 was supported from 1.35.
    2. Open up TV Server config.
    3. expand TVservers, then name or IP address of your server, then the TV card. You should see something like this:
      fig1.png
    4. Set the settings to match the screen shot. This is for the first transponder. Your LNB may not be at 11300.
    5. Press SCAN FOR CHANNELS.
    6. It should find some channels. When it's done, you should see this:
      fig2.png
Press NEW SCAN (not OK, or you will have to start from 1.)
    7. Repeat 4-6 for each of the transponders shown below, but changing the advanced tuning options to suit. These 3 cover the Freeview offerings. (The first one is the same as the screenshot.)
    8. If you have more than 1 TV card, repeat 3-7 but select the next card in step 3.
    Transponders:
    TP22 12484800 kHz 22500 sample rate FEC 4/5 rolloff 0.2
    TP14 12530000 kHz 30000 sample rate FEC 2/3 rolloff 0.2
    TP21 12455200 kHz 22500 sample rate FEC 3/4 rolloff 0.2

I think the xml file has got this data, but the ini file is stored at Mediaportal and looks like the transponder list, except it doesn't seem to match Optus D1. The 'new' satellite is Koreasat6 and it's at 159.9E, pretty close to Optus D1 (or is it D2) at 160E.

    Good luck.

Thanks a lot for that. I would have never worked that out. I did not have much luck. On TP22 I did get one channel which ended up being TVNZ1. I am wondering that because I am in an apartment building there will be some form of amplification which cant handle the changes. I do appreciate you for the effort, hopefully it helps others.

If it's an apartment block, it's quite likely that the LNB is something exotic that handles Sky and others. Try a different LNB frequency (and possibly the low and high frequency settings. I know little of such things, but apparently Sky is often 10750. Give it a try. Freeview is horizontally polarised.
