I have installed v1.2 RC, and have now upgraded to 1.2 final.
On one machine i have installed both tv-server and client. This machine works just fine, i can watch my tv channels.
On another machine i only installed mediaportal with tv client (not server).
I´ve configured the tv client settings to the best of my knowledge.
The first time i started the client i can go in to "TV" but when i press "channels" nothing happens.
After i close mediaportal again and start it ones more it takes longer to start and all i get is an white screen and it freezes so i have to kill mediaportal in the task manager.

I had the same problem when running the RC version.

The database backend (provider MySQL) could not be reached.
Check the connection string: Server=tvserver;

so either your PC with hostname "tvserver" cannot be reached (Switched off / changed IP address / WLAN is temporaily down) or MySQL service isn't started on this PC

It works locally on the server machine so it´s not switched off , IP address is static and i use wired gigalan.
MySQL i listed under services as "running"

I have tried disabling the firewall on both computers.

Since it works locally on the server machine does that mean that mysql is working properly ?

yes, sorry, misunderstood about remote tv client.
then these log entries say only that mMySQL on tvserver cannot be reached. next time when it happens try to ping tvserver from your client.
if ping works - then you have problems with firewall/antivirus, if doesn't - then you have problems with network connection.

Pinging the server works so i will try to disable all firewalls and anti-virus programs

Solved it by adding my tv servers ip to the hosts file according to this thread https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-tv-server-90/cannot-connect-tv-server-85141/
