Using the PDVD7 or PDVD8 codecs (not installed together) in MP gives me the following artifacts:

a) Very bad image retention (ghosting?) in many scenes (most noticeable in cgi movies). For example, trees against a dark blue cgi sky, as soon as the camera pans up the sky, the trees are still visible (albeit more faint).

b) Poor 'shadowing' which results in 'blocky patches' between shadows on a wall for example.

I don't experience anything like this when watching the same films directly through PowerDVD. Any ideas what may be wrong from within MP?

So is this ghosting or something else?

Finally sorted this problem out. See THIS AVSFORUM thread for the solution to my problem if you're having similar video artifacts :).

Very good idea :). I'm so pleased to have sorted this issue after so many months (years?)!
