Hi all,

few days ago I completely reinstalled my HTPC. It works fine since today afternoon, when MediaPortal became strange behaviour:
I have installed ffdshow codecs on the PC. The problem is, when I am watching a video (from harddisk) the video will be turned upside down. When I stop and resume video, the orientation of video is normal, if I stop and start again - upside down - ...
So I checked the ffdshow video configuration -> I was really surprised, that media portal switched the "rotate video" at the output section on or off each time I start a video (even I don't use ffdshow codecs for movie playing).
When I watched video, and it was upside down, then go to TV, also the live TV is upside down ...

Does anyone have/had similar problems? - How can I say mediaportal to leave the ffdshow video rotation switch untouched?

... channel switch time is also very poor: 5-7 sec.
on my old installation with TvServer the channel switch took 2-4 sec.

For whatever reason ffdshow reacts to the remote action "arrow down" and possibly other keys to enables flip video, a real pain in the ass, but this is a ongoing ffdshow problem, not MP's and can be a bit sporadic in its behaviour.

are you really sure it's a ffdshow problem? I tried playing videos in MediaPlayer, MediaPlayerClassic - both are using ffdshow filters for playback - but there I havn't this rotation problems.

Yes I'm sure, It's the Flip video setting in output, that gets activated.

If you uninstall FFDShow Tryouts, and just use Xvid\Divx codecs for this kind of playback, no upside down video appears, may well be something inside MP triggering it, but it should not be influenced by outside sources, or maybe its a feature, but who wants to watch upside down video anyway.

watching videos upside down may be a useful feature - think about video projectors mounted on ceiling. I know all newer one has this feature implemented itself, but older one's ...
In my basic understading, the question is why and which part of MP influences this switch?

... but at the moment it is'nt one of my major problems with Media Portal.

    Hi,

check in ffdshow settings, if "Keys & remote" is unchecked.
What remote do you use? Or do you use keyboard input?

I will check this as soon as possible - but I'm unable to do this before weekend.

    Thanks
