    Hi all!

    I love this app!

Im trying to get my iPhone to connect over the internet to iPiMP.

    I have a cable modem->router->pc(with MP+iPiMP).

I can use the Wi-fi perfectly on my iPhone with transcoding/streaming video as well as accessing the tv server EPG list.. when im on my local lan with Wi-Fi.

What i want to do is be able to schedule recording from my iPhone when im not on my local LAN...so i think i need some settings to make this happen.

I can see my router page and have set the "Virtual Server"
    Name ipimp
Private IP 192.168.0.6 (this is the ip of my pc running mp+ipimp)
    Protocol Type TCP
    Private Port 80
    Public Port 80

On my iphone i enter my modems ip address (the internet's connection, not my lan ip) with :80 (port 80)..but no go.

    Can anyone help me ?

Does your router record anything in the logs? Do you also need a firewall rule in your router to accept port 80 traffic?

If I was a betting man...

My money would be on your PC's firewall.... just to prove it disable the firewall.

If this solves it, then reenable it and look at putting an accept/exclusion in its rulebase/config.

    the private port as 80
    the public port as 49152
then in the mp config under plugins and "MPControl" as 55667
use the iphone browser url : 114.xxx.xxx.xxx:49152

Thanks again ...wish this could be included into the wiki..as its quite a useful tool when your out and about and need the settings already done back at home..lol

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully you might be able to help.

How did you get your PC to turn on remotely, or do you always have your MP server switched ON?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

You need a router that supports port forwarding and static ARP definition.

I use DDNS with my router (as I dont have a fixed IP) for external name resolution

I use a web based (or iphone app) to send a WOL packet on a specific port to my DDNS name (which is the IP of my broadband), the router than changes the public WOL port, to be a private port (you dont have to do the port changing part). This is then forwarded to the MAC address of my HTPC and wakes it up.

    Cheers,
    J.
