Hi

Is it possible for me to try and install and run another TV Recording, Scheduling and Capture program on my computer without having to uninstall MediaPortal and avoid any conflicts occurring? I have WinXP and Hauppauge HVR-2200 duel tuner card.

I thought I may try another recording program to see if it works better on my system then MediaPortal. However, if it does not I would like to go back to MediaPortal and also want to continue to use MediaPortal for recording while I work out how to set up the other program.

However, I may not need to use another program if I can work out how to solve the problems I have had with MediaPortal as described in my other question at https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...able-start-timeshifting-other-problems-75648/

I have seen some other free TV recording, scheduling and capture programs at Free TV PVR (Personal Video Recorder) and TV Recording Software (thefreecountry.com)
Has anyone tried them and if so, do they have any disadvantages over MediaPortal?

Do you think that anyone may have an idea on how I could resolve the problems I have had with MediaPortal as I explained in my last question?

Your help will be appreciated,
Regards Richard.

Yes, you can install more than one recording application but you need to ensure that only one is running at a time. For MediaPortal you can go into TV Server config and manually turn off the server for short term tests. For longer term you'll need to go into services and disable TVService. You'll need to do the same for any other application you install. As for Help on your issues you need to do some things. Did you fill out your system profile in your forum User page? They need to know what hardware and software is installed. If you get asked for logs you need to ATTACH your MediaPortal logs located in Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Logs and MediaPortal TV Server\logs. Use the manage attachments button under the message editor...if it doesn't show up click the USE ADVANCED button. It's very confusing if you just paste 1000 lines into a message.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

Would I still have to turn off the MediaPortal server even if I close MediaPortal out and am not using it to record programs at the time I run another TV Recording program?

In my earlier question I gave the name of the card and operating system I am using. If you need any other specific details please let me know.

As I stated in the earlier question, I tried to run the debugger and it came up with the error message below.

    MediaPortal WathcDog -- Error.

System.OutOFMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryEcception' was thrown,
    at mediaportal.Support.Archiver.AddFile(String File)
    at MediaPortal.Support.Archiver.AddFile(String file)
    at MediaPortal.Support.Archiver.AddDirectory(String directory)
    at WatchDog.PostTestActions.PerformActions()

    I can find C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
    However, I cannot see Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Logs and MediaPortal TV Server\
However, there is a folder called C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log with some files in it.

Do you think I should reinstall Portal or install an updated version? If so, should I do a complete reinstall or can some of the settings could be saved so that I would not have to set up everything again?

    Your help will be appreciated,
    Regards Richard.
