Hello :),

I uninstalled all codecs I had and installed the SAF 4.00 on fresh MP 1.1.

Everything works fine in MP except that I don't have sound while playing MKV files. Those same MKV files works great in VLC player (why VLC*is not default player in MP is another question worth asking :) ).

So I installed it like this :

Here I choose yes as I have SPDIF output from PC :

Then when installed, I put this in video processing (actually, it says to put "ffdshow audio filter" but I can't find it in the list, so I put the audio decoder) :

Other settings :

If someone can help be enable the sound in MKV files it would be really cool :)

Thank you in advance !

I just had the exact same problem, I just upgraded my HTPC to Win7. I got everything installed and setup everything was working great until I tried to play an MKV file. Video would play but no audio. I have my pc hooked up to an external receiver via optical SPDIF. I setup SAF the same way as you hitting Yes when it asks you about enabling Pass-through is what was causing it. After I unchecked the Pass-Through options in the FFDShow Audio config sound worked.

Hope this helped

Yes, I have had the same problem. But, only by direct out (analog out). S/PDIF works also, when I've activated pass through at my system.

Is there something else I can do please ?

    EDIT*:
I installed the AC3Filter, set it as default audio decoder in video player/ MPEG/AC3 config and now it works

Did you setup SPDIF output as default in your OS?

Can you be more precise please ?

My computer is linked to a receiver PC -> SPDIF -> Receiver
Everything works except sound in MKV files as first post explains.

    EDIT*:
I installed the AC3Filter, set it as default audio decoder in video player/ MPEG/AC3 config and now it works

SPDIF needs to be default one.

Is this the information you need ?

FYI, I am using those drivers with my Aureon 5.1 card :

    Okay,

If I try to put 7.1 and NOT 5.1, it works, but no sound in all speakers...

If I put Headphones, it works but not sure it is real 5.1 in my speakers, I think it is getting better :)

What is the default audio device in your Sound settings in control panel?

Should be the Digital device (ie: SPDIF).

set that to default, then just use "Default sound device" in mediaportal dvd/video settings pages.

I only have one device, so I can't set it to wrong one.
