AW: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

hoborg, I do have some HD files 14 GB and more (m4ts) and they play fine with SAF 5. No stutter, pixels or any distortion :D

Thanks hoborg, you replied so fast I didn't have time to edit my post so here it is:

I've read on the first page "-if you have Win7 then using Win7 video decoder is recommended for both MPEG-2 and H.264"

I do have windows 7, how to I do it? will it interfere in any way with MePo subtitles?
Does it mean still using DXVA? and will MKV title play with WMP? or it has nothing to do with it?

I'm sorry for so many little questions (which probably reveals my ignorance) but I had a good time with windows XP + MePo + SAF 4.0 (except for some MKV files), so I just want to do right again.

    Many thanks in advance.

Any referral to some reading which will enlighten me regarding What does What in playing video files will be welcomed

I've set up "setting up ffdshow Audio decoder" per your suggestions, but couldn't find Mixer on that window?

Go to Windows Start Menu->All Programs->SAF 5->FFDShow->Configure Audio (see my attached screen shot).

Just so we're clear, when you installed SAF 5, did you choose "use passthrough" or not? Because I choose no in the installer, then setup FFDShow to only passthrough AC3 and DTS (with the important "connect as PCM first").

If this doesn't work for your DTS files (I'm sure this is the culprit), you can try to use the "AC3 (S/PDIF encode mode)" and see if you get them to play.

I have some problems with SAF with mkv file (i only have one HD movie, so i can't test more of them). I have installed SAF on freshly installed windows and sound was really bad. There were delays and cutoffs. Now i have uninstalled SAF and installed K-lite and movie works flawlessly. File details from MPC-HC:

    Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 23.98fps [Video]
    Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch [Audio]

    Did you enabled audio passthrough?
If yes, reinstall SAF and this time do not enable it.

Yes i had, but then i manually disabled it in ffdshow config. Is there any option activated from this dialog box?

Reinstall SAF and this time do not enable it.
And try to play your video in Graphstudio.
