Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

This is just a small sample of numerous files that have the same symptoms. The videos themself may have the black bars encoded in the video, but in the versions previous to the latest the video file I sent (the full version equivalent) and all the others were successfully stretched so there were no black bars. I will reinstall the old SAF version previous for the meantime until a fix is found.

But what solution? Black borders are inside video, SAF cannot remove them.
You can enable zoom in FFDShow if you want to remove them...

Sorry for the confusion, that is what I meant. I have stretch enabled in MePo zoom section by default and every video was stretching to full screen fine in all previous builds of SAF. Since I upgraded to the latest SAF, I did not change any settings in MePo but the video no longer stretches (black bars either top an dbottom or left and right depending on video). I have since tried different zoom modes in MePo with no luck. The only thing I changed was to the latest version of SAF.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I have installed SAF 5.00 with SPDIF passthrough and it seems to be set to only passthrough AC3.

Most of my MKVs are DTS and are being downsampled to 5.1 although I have to say my processor responds well to this signal.

If in FFDShow Audio settings, I also tick DTS for passthrough, my processor receives a DTS signal, but it is very shaky and any skipping forward or backward in the movie leads to mute audio. This then further confuses the processor and DTS becomes unreliable when trying to start another movie.

Are you downsampling because there are problems with DTS? I would dearly love to get this working. 5.1 is solid as a rock but DTS seems to be really flaky!!!

Has anyone got any suggestions/recommendations?

Thank you.

A you sure what your receiver can process DTS HD or what your files contain DTS?
I've seen similar symptoms when try to play DTS-HD on receiver, supporting only DTS (Sven HR980 in my case).

Are you sure you disabled resize in FFDshow?

That is SAF default settings.
I am afraid i am not able to help you with that, i dont have reciever.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

My Processor does not support DTS HD, but I am pretty sure these are 5.1 DTS soundtracks - ie in Mediaportal it is reporting DTS 5.1 on the movie details which I believe it gets from Mediainfo.dll?

Is it possible the graph is different for DTS than 5.1?

Thanks.

Sorry for the confusiopn again but I figured it out. I previously had 'no aspect ratio correction' ticked, not the default keep current aspect ratio in the resize tab of FFDSHOW and forgot to change it in the new version. Sorry for all the hassle but thanks for your help and keep up the good work!

Can you provide a screen shot of FFDSHOW Audio setup of passthrough? Did you use Win 7? If yes, how you setup your spdif output in windows?

Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Still not sure if it's time to jump to SAF5. I read many posts about SAF5 and some great doubt come to me:

Subtitles are critical for me when watching videos, and according to these posts....

But MCE remote doesn't work nativ? Why you do't support this mpc engine -> Link?

You can switch audio/subtitles tracks by pressing CTRL+ALT+ Numpad0 and Numpad1 if your remote support key mapping (my do).
MPC subtitle engine is part of player, not Codec.

Assuming ffdshow / ffdshow DXVA are set as codecs to play video and take adventages of them, seems logical that the subs engine should be set to ffdshow also. But my remote (genuine Microsoft MCE) does NOT support native key mapping, so I couldn't map the keys for switch subtitles if I'm forced to use ffdshow subs engine. So, the question is: Can I set the subs engine to MPC-HC instead of ffdshow, even if I set ffdshow as video codec?

Also, another question: Can SAF5 passthrough AC3 and DTS? I remember some posts questioning this and can't find them right now.

And another one: Do PDVD10 goes better than PDVD9 for LiveTV / HDTV ? I'm having some stuttering when watching HDTV with PDVD9 from SAF4*unlocked*.

Thanks in advance.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I'm at work at the moment will post FFDShow settings when I get back home.

I am using Windows 7. I have not specifically set up SPDIF - it is just there in my audio options.

I have tested DTS output from the SPDIF properties and this looks to be solid but through MEPO, it often locks at the start of the movie but any seeking throws it off.

I found that if I put FFDShow in Postprocessing aswell, this sometimes improves the signal but it is not consistent.

Some movies however crackle.

Is it possible that DTS is bein intercepted by another codec when 5.1 is not?

I can have a go at Graphstudio but I was not sure that the 2 could have differnet graphs?

Thank you.
